When I took the card out of the packaging, I was surprise on how dense this card is, which is a good thing! Makes the card feel much more high quality, and also means it would sag less then other cards from other brands. I also like the fact that it says what GPU it has on the side of the card, and that lights up! The backplate also looks really good, which my MSI Gaming 4G Geforce GTX 970 didn't have.
The reason why I chose EVGA over other brands is because of what people had to say about EVGA online, they have great support, they have great high quality products, and they are reliable!
The only problem I had with this card, was while unpacking it. When I took the packaging of the fans, the stickers that are on the fans ripped off, so on one of the fans, half of the sticker is left over! That is due to the stickers being so thin. EVGA included shipping stickers over the stickers so they do not get scratched, but when you take the shipping stickers off, the actual stickers come off with it! I have contacted EVGA about this so hopefully they will send me new stickers, but not something I would return the graphics card for, mainly in case if I wanted to sell the graphics card later on, it doesn't bother me, so be careful while unpacking it! - I am unable to include pictures as I would then have to take the GPU out of my system. I didn't think of taking pictures before. I am not going to take the GPU out just to take pictures.
I would say this is the best graphics card I have ever had, and I have owned the Asus Strix GTX 960 2GB card, and the MSI Gaming 4G GTX 970.
This is a worthwhile upgrade over the GTX 970, and if you are thinking of buying two GTX 970s in SLI at the same time, I would recommend buying a 980Ti instead, as you get more VRAM and more power overall, and you can always buy another 980Ti later if required!
Pros of the Card
- Feels High Quality
- Looks Good!
- Factory Overclocked - Although looking to overclock it more with MSI Afterburner!
- Runs very cool and quite
- 6GB VRAM!!!!!!
Cons of the Card
- The stickers are thin, rips off easily.
I recommend this card and EVGA over other cards and brands.
First impressions, the card is phenomenally high quality. It truly feels like a £500 product. Performance right off the bat is what you would expect from one of the highest end cards in the market right now and this can (in most cases) be increased even further with some simple overclocking.
I'm only on a 1080/144hz display and being able to max out most of my titles at near 144hz is an amazing experience.
My only gripe is that there is only one DVI-I on this card, however thats not a big deal.
Would I recommend? Perhaps not if you are running a 780ti/970 but if you are on something lower then sure.
I got mine today and can confirm that Amazon are dispatching the SC+ (4995) with the backplate.
The reason for 4 stars is that the first one i ordered did not come with a backplate. The second one i ordered did! Many comments surrounding this on Amazon for this exact product and its sold by EVGA themselves so.... if you really want the backplate perhaps look for different listing. If your're not bothered then this is the cheapest clocked 980ti you can get right now so go for it! ;)
