Reseña del editor
Eat.Taste.Heal is a groundbreaking work within the field of holistic health and nutrition, written by a medical doctor, a patient, and an acclaimed chef. A complete guidebook and cookbook in one, Eat.Taste.Heal demystifies the ancient healing science of Ayurveda, humankind's most ancient system of healthy living. The aim of the book is simple: to create harmony within through using common foods and healthy lifestyle practices as medicine. The collection contains over 150 cross-cultural recipes and received a Maverick Award for excellence in photography. The authors are a unique trio: physician, patient, and chef. Dr. Thomas Yarema M.D., director of the Kauai Center for Holistic Medicine and Research, created for his patients an understandable dietary program rooted in common sense. Daniel Rhoda, a patient who found healing through Ayurveda, demystifies the ancient science that helped restore his health. Chef Johnny Brannigan, an internationally trained Ayurvedic chef, has created more than 150 recipes to empower individual healing through the exploration of taste.

Where I found it lacking was the guidebook. Ayurveda is about the journey, not a hard line list of do's and don'ts. Additionally while many people are vegetarians, it isnt for everyone and there is a strong push, almost political in nature to do so. It is informative, but doesnt really allow for a person to take the journey, or think for themselves. However, everyone is different and if you perfer a strong list of do's and dont's, youll find this section helpful.
For those just starting out I would recomend (also on amazon) "The Book of Ayurveda: A holistic Approach to Health and Longevity" which is easy to read and understand, and gives a nice rounded look at the ayurvedic lifestyle. Also would recomend Dr John Douillard's videos (detoxing ect) which include daily self massage, yoga and tips/grocery lists on seasonal eating. Also not to be missed is Dr. Vasant Lad's "The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies."
This book does not include a test for determining ones dosha, but an overview of each. These are helpful, but having a consultation with a practioner is recomended. Sometimes self testing can be wrong, and be more about an imbalance. I learned from experience! I did a self test and then had the pleasure of meeting an Ayurvedic practioner at my chiro's office during my last two visits to Washington State, an amazing experience! Needless to say I had it all wrong lol. Buy this book for the food, read the guidelines, remember its about the journey, and have fun!
I do appreciate the quiz allowing you to better understand your type. It helped us create meals that fit both my husband and myself, without going to extremes.
