Reseña del editor
The corruptible power of money and ambition in American politics begins in Venice where a Washington woman reporter trying to repair a bad marriage suddenly spots a professional jeweler, a key figure in the world of Washington's powerful social and political elite. When she returns to Washington she is shocked to discover that the jeweler has not returned and has, in effect, disappeared. This piques her curiosity and what she uncovers goes to the heart of political corruption on a grand scale; deals with diamonds smuggled into the country to finance a Presidential political campaign and how money and politics impacts on family, children, friends and lovers. This tantalizing and complex thriller deals with the dark side of ambition and the lengths people will go in an effort to attain political power.

That being said, and having just finished the read, I can now certainly say that I’m glad I gave “Empty Treasures” a chance as it has not only left me impressed and entertained, but also given me some much-needed faith back into the genre. Nearly every element I keep an eye out for is executed excellently in “Empty Treasures’ – the characters are complex & realistic, the suspenseful undertone is evident in nearly every scene which gives the book a hardened ‘page-turner’ feel, and the plot itself is original while still retaining some characteristics I have favored in the past.
Yes, there were of course a few parts that I think could have benefited from an editor or even left out entirely – but the overall majority of the read is crafted well and so I can’t help but be satisfied with the read.
