Reseña del editor
The story of Epiphone, one of the oldest and most famous guitar companies, is told by former staff historian Walter Carter. It's an epic story spanning three centuries, from Old World roots in the nineteenth century to the golden age of American makers in the 20th century and onward into the global market of the new millennium. It's the story of America's business, from an individual luthier to a family business and on to corporate ownership. And it's the story of American popular music, powered by Epiphone guitars, from big-bodied Emperor that drove the swing bands of the 1930s, to the electric hollowbodies of the 1960s used by the Beatles and studio ace Howard Roberts, to custom solidbody models for such modern rockers as Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Jeff Waters (Annihilator), and Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance). Beautifully illustrated with photos of all the important Epiphone instruments and the extraordinary musicians who played them, this is a fascinating history of an iconic name in the world of the guitar.

1. More pictures
2. Less bulking up of the text with biographies of artists that have already outlived their 15 minutes (this is only maybe the last 15% of the book, but that ends a good book on a negative note)
3. If you're going to give a list of guitars and prices, make it table-like - perhaps include some pictures (?)
I'd also like to know a lot more about Epiphone's pickups, especially pre-Gibson. Even the mini-humbucker of Gibson gets pretty short shrift in the Duchossoir Gibson book and nothing here. Every other guitar company book recognizes that the pickups are probably THE distinctive part of a classic company's sound. Sure, it's just coil/poles/magnets but then again a guitar is just body & neck.
No discussion of Epiphone amps, but this is the "Guitar" book. However, for the company historian, it couldn't be too hard to dig up some of that info (and pictures - have I mentioned pictures).
However, all in all I did like the book - it's the fact that it gets so close to being definitive that makes it a bit aggravating. So, as much as that is a backhanded compliment of sorts, I'd say if you are at all interested in Epiphone, get this book. Just be prepared to have to go to the Internet to fill in some blanks (like what described guitars might have actually LOOKED like).
They can keep putting these books out every year. It's always the saqme info, just in a different layout.
The color photos are wonderful.
As an owner of a few Epiphone guitars, I found this book to be a complete joy.
