Esta serie latenia pendiente de tener hace mucho tiempo. Me retraia de su compra el no tener subtitulos en inglés, pero cuando la pusieron a mitad de precio no lo dude. A menos precio que una sola temporada de la edicion en españa donde han editado la dos primeras sin estar seguros si la terminan o cuando la terminan. Me costará mas sin subtituos en ingles pero al precio que salio mereció la pena

I'm not lying when I'm saying how awesome this series is, what helps make it great is that many of the practical effects were done by Jim Henson's Creature Shop which makes the creatures and the aliens appear a lot more real, however the CGI is very...dated. The worst parts are seeing Rygel as he walks since he's a puppet, but the out-takes are hilarious!

A great way it hooks you in is the opening story where John Crichton (Ben Browder) is an astronaut on Earth, doing an experimental maneuver using the slingshot theory as a means to travel further in space, however, a wormhole opens and he finds himself in some unknown part of the universe and in the middle of a fierce battle. As we follow John because technology out here is SOOO vast and beyond our own (even by today's standards) he has to have everything explained to him which frustrates the crew he's with since it's all common knowledge to them like flipping on a light switch but even John (who is a physicist) struggles to grasp the concepts around different technologies, but he tries his best considering he's on the run.

This series is one of those hidden classics, not enough people know about it and this collection also included the peacekeeper wars that cap off the end of the series after it had been canceled.

First Time I've posted a review, why never before, well never had anything that wasn't already covered by someone else! Until now anyway, this is a brief review of Farscape definitive Collection on Blu Ray. Now most people will be aware that this is an upscaled pseudo HD picture as the original masters are currently on Walkabout in Australia. However I wanted to clarify that this is a significant upgrade from stander def picture and offers better image then upscaled image as well. The print isn't perfect the biggest weakness, and this is not in many episodes, is where they inserted stock footage as this was a lower standard to begin with and so is noticeable soft and lacking in fine details. In general you have faith colour with Skin tone and blacks holding up well as does the sfx on the principle characters and puppets. So picture wise a good solid performance I'd rate as 3.5 - 4 throughout.

The Other item often see as a negative is the presentation of 4:3 image which is how it was shot! Now some shows were filmed in widescreen with suitable safe areas etc but Farscape was not one of these from the research I've seen. The quality of the show means after the first few mins you don't notice the black bars and this doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show.

Now audio is where it really shines with new loss less sound tracks. I'm outputting via a THX certified amp 7.1 systems and the audio makes good use of all channels and creates an encompassing sound stage. I feel this makes better use of the soundscape then much larger productions like STNG where the sound mix is less of a strength often feeling sparse. Now from a purely personal perspective I always find upgrade to sound adds more to the viewing experience then just the video. Audio wise I'd give it a solid 5 stars.

Farscape is a show that remains both underrated and a cult classic and whether its brand new to you or you've bought it before on DVD at the current price point its well worth jumping in.

For myself, the story, plot, characters are all well designed as well as gritty rather than the clean/clear more well known science - fiction series. The puppets express sufficient emotions and as well as the voice acting and the puppet movement to portray the human equivalent emotions we seek in order to empathise with a character and build distaste, likeness and love.
Their are a number of story arcs within individual stories and a great plot overall.

If you want Sci-Fi with bite, humor, nods to mainstream TV as well great characters and a superb story, then you should buy this.

Theres little point saying much about the quality of the show itself.

Since Farscape is a very niche show, which hardly anyone knew about, its very unlikely you would be reading this review unless you had seen the show and loved it anyway.

But if not, the show as one of the most fresh, original, well written, mature shows produced in a long time.

Yes its got muppets in it, but the show is a masterpiece visually in regards to the oustanding puppet work, the amazing creatures on show, the planets and ships they have created. There are no other shows on TV which have pushed the bar as much as Farcape did when it came to diversity in visuals.

The CGI visual effects put a lot modern shows (created years after) to shame in terms of production value.

But the main bit... the HD visuals and sound on the Blu Ray version.

You aren't going to get mind-blowing 1080 HD visuals here as the video is basically upscaled from a lower resolution, but to be honest.... it still looks great. A massive step up from TV broadcast quality and far beyond DVD quality.

The CGI shots look amazing and stand out in contrast to the live action, but even the live action shots are rich in colour and detail.

The sound also jumps out of the screen and its great.

I have no complaint and I think the HD image looks great and the hours and hours and hours of extras is hard to complain about too.

First seen FARSCAPE when it was aired on tv back in the early 2000s , after watching the first few episodes i was well and truly hooked ,astronaut JOHN CRICHTON gets accidently sucked through a wormhole while testing a new spacecraft , he ends up in a distant galaxy , aboard a living /biomechanical PEACEKEEPER prison transporter ship , the ship is called MOYA , when CRICHTON gets there he finds that some of the prisoners have taken over the ship, now JOHN CRICHTON has two problems on his hands , the first is how the hell is he gonna get back to earth , and the second is that he also has the merciless PEACEKEEPERS hunting him down,now the FARSCAPE EXPERIENCE really begins

All the main characters like JOHN CRICHTON ,AERYN , KA DARGO , ZAAN . RYGEL, STARK,CHIANA , PILOT , MOYA , CREASE and SCORPIUS are very memorable ,some of the main characters do not come into the show till later on in the seasons, and some leave well before the end of FARSCAPES final episode , each character has there flaws , just like we all do in real life, which makes each episode all the more interesting to watch

The situations that MOYA'S renegade crew face in each episode all have that exquisite FARSCAPE touch in storytelling , theres loads of humour and lessons to be learned in each story , but the way each story is told is always fantastic viewing ,the special-fx are more than adequate for a made for tv production , most of them are done really well indeed , if you liked shows like STAR TREK , FIREFLY , BLAKES 7 , then FARSCAPE is right up your street , but in my oppinion FARSCAPE is even better than all of those shows that i mentioned ,and it should never have been cancelled so early
