5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Best bits for plastic I've ever used 8 de diciembre de 2014
Por HugeStakkaBoFan - Publicado en Amazon.com
My local plastics shop sells some bits meant for drilling out crack-prone plastics like acrylic and polycarbonate and they're about $8/pop. They work OK, but they're still pretty difficult to keep from wandering during those critical first few spins, and it's really, really easy to ruin a very expensive piece of plastic just by being 1/64" off.

These are about the same price, and they cut as cleanly as tiny forstner bits from entrance to exit with fewer chips--the shavings just spiral up and out the flutes in long, continuous strands. The Centrotec chuck, which I generally find useless and gimmicky, is actually a welcome requirement here, as it keeps you as wobble-free as possible with a handheld drill. I honestly get cleaner holes free-handing with these bits than I do from plunging with a spiral bit in a router, and they're about as precisely placed as you can possibly get without a CNC rig.

It does suck that you can't buy individual replacements, and it can also suck a little bit if you need to go back and tap SAE threads into a metric-sized hole, but I've been able to make it work without too much effort. If you're just drilling wood, I'm not so sure you're going to notice the difference between these any any other brad point bit out there, but for anyone who works with plastics, these are worth every penny.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Quality 4 de mayo de 2013

My local woodworking store salesman told me that this Festool stuff is like crack. Well, it is and it hits hard on the wallet, but you get what you pay for. This little bit set is small, handy, and can get into tight spaces. Nice and sharp, and holds solidly in the centrotec holder of the "Smooth" drills they have. These are a better value than the larger 8 piece set that runs about 125, and fit nicely into some extra space in the systainer for the drill. Anyway, I don't see this Festool habit ending soon. Nice stuff!!!
4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Love the drill bits, Loathe the packaging 4 de junio de 2015
Por Foolish Perfectionist - Publicado en Amazon.com
These Festool bits drill crisp, clean holes whether in my drill press or my hand-held driver. The bits are primarily designed for wood. The diameter of each bit is legible on its shank.

The packaging for this set of bits is very compact, and perhaps worth keeping. However, I loathe the packaging with some vigor. There seems to be no way to extract the drill bits from the bottom half of the package without needling myself in the fingers or clattering the tips against a hard surface.

The needle-like tips are perfect for precisely-positioned starts with the hand drill. The needle-like tip is also helpful when positioning and clamping a work piece on the drill press table. I did this just last night: I pre-marked a work piece with hole locations using the scribe from my combination square. The brad points on the bits made it possible to position the work piece on the drill press table with relative accuracy. Quite agreeable, since most of us lack an X-Y table on our drill press.

The stubby bits are highly portable, and easier to wield in a hand-held driver than their longer cousins (which require more dexterity to put on target). Obviously, these are only suitable for drilling shallow holes or thin material. The fluted portion of each bit is roughly 20 mm long not including the point. The points progress in length from roughly 1 mm to 3mm, according to diameter.

In summary, excellent drill bits, but the packaging/storage could be better. My greater lament is that Festool does not offer an even broader range of diameters. This set includes 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, and 8 mm.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Incredibly handy, useful and well-made short drill bit set for Festool chucks 10 de mayo de 2013

I got these to work with my CXS drill/driver and couldn't be happier. They come in a great case, are short but a very useful length, and they work very, very well. Couldn't be more satisfied.
4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Festool products are generally great and expensive 12 de enero de 2015

Festool products are generally great and expensive, this meets the criteria. What I like about these is that when used on the CXS drill, it gives you a very compact drill that can get into tight spaces, certainly a lot tighter than a jobber drill bit clamped in the chuck.
