Once upon a time my computer PSU was a fairly low cost thing that either arrived in a second hand computer or was purchased from among the lower priced commercial ones.
Look for something that is geared to helping a computer eat less electricity then things get expensive, but the Aurum looks to be one of the least unaffordable solutions. This has a power factor from a mains electricity point of view of better than 99%. Power efficiency, electricity available for use rather than to warm the PSU, reaches 90% at 50% load for the 600W version, 300W. Noise is dependant on load, but so far mine is running quietly. This PSU is at its best at middle to low loading. Also, gold rating does not say the device is 90% energy effective for all of its range, just for part of its range.
I now know that I do not need the VGA card leads and there are two on each of the PSU that I have, just now. I was hoping that the slots on the cable outlet side were for plug-in leads but it turns out that they are ventilation or decoration. The two VGA leads, labelled VGA 1 and 2, 6 or 8 pin power sockets for up to three games type graphics cards, are something that is just clutter, to me. I physically cut mine out, yellow leads shortest, insulating tape at the ends, then the black leads, also insulating the ends, then the mesh fabric sleeve, tidied with insulating tape. My case has a lot less clutter from un-needed cables.
The cable ties turned out to be Velcro and I find these to be the biggest plus of the package. The cables are now tidied to a much better extent than with any other system that I have had.
The drive cables, three of them, are the part that is difficult for me to get used to, just the layout being different. Between them they have six sata connectors and four traditional and one floppy, which I have not yet removed.
The over-all effect is neat, quiet, nice.
This product is very quiet and cool during operation.
Stabil, really 80+ power output.
It is highly recommended.
Simple great recommended stuff !
