5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas A giant step forward 29 de diciembre de 2010

I built and painted this model over the course of several weeks. I would strongly recommend purchasing this version over the standard version because of the lighting effects they include. Although there aren't batteries included for the lighting effects. I doubt I'll use the option parts to build repair-Exia, but it's nice to have that option.

Design: The proportions of this kit are spot on. Every major seam is well hidden and there is a lot of detail throughout the kit. The clear blue holographic pieces for the legs, arms, chest and head are also a really nice touch. My only complaint is that the spur connections could have been better placed on the chrome plated pieces.

Articulation: The articulation of this model is really fantastic. The joints have a large range of motion, yet they're still very stiff. Exia has no problem holding the gigantic GN sword over it's head, or in any number of dynamic poses. The feet, hips and ankles also have a good range of motion, but the knees are a bit of a pain to bend.

Color: The molded colors look good right out of the box. It's obvious that the designer went to great lengths to keep the color design as close to the design as possible. The kit looks 100 times better with paint and panel lines.

My first 1/100 MG 00 Gundam kit. Very satisfied with this kit. No paint, but can be if you want. Some unstableness when connecting some parts, but for the most parts fit snugly. Needs batteries for the GN Drive. You will need to get 4 LR41 batteries. (Get them here on Amazon. Cheaper than going to a battery store.) This is a great MG kit for fans of the Anime. I plan on getting more. Enjoy!

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Exia Marks the Spot 10 de enero de 2010

With Gundam 00's rising popularity, it's only fitting that the signature unit be given honors as a Master Grade kit. This particular version of Exia comes with two options: Battle-damaged as seen in the start of the second season, or fully repaired as seen throughout the show (the regular kit only having the latter). And, as expected of a Master Grade kit, no expense is spared for the sake of detail, as the kit includes a new holographic part for the GN Particle power lines, an LED light for the GN Drive itself, two sets of decals for either damaged or complete Exia, and transparent plastic for the GN Condensers on the arms, legs, and head. My only gripe with the kit itself is that it doesn't live up to the quality of Master Grade joint movement. The legs have the usual range-of-motion, but because of the design, it cannot kneel because the leg from the knee to the ankle is almost twice as long. Additionally, the arms cannot fully bend as there's a detail part at the upper part of the elbow that blocks it from completion. And to make matters worse, the stabilizing attachment for the GN Sword/Rifle has a nasty habit of not wanting to stay, which can be a real headache when added to fact that the piece itself isn't light and Exia's hands can easily lose its grip on it.

In summary, Bandai continues its excellence with the Master Grade line, but there are a few flaws in Exia that leave it lacking and far from par.
