I bought this case after trying the Incase folio case that sells for $60.00, as well as the Belkin Grip-Vue sleeve and the Incase bag that is made out of neoprene. While the neoprene does a good job of protecting the Ipad, I found that taking the Ipad out of the case every time I wanted to use it to be frustrating. And, I never knew where to put the bag while I was using the Ipad.

The Incase sleeve that has the built in stand is not bad, but it's quite ugly, and the material feels like the stuff three ring binders that sell for $1.99 are made of. In addition, it is quite thick, and not particularly pleasant to hold in your hand.

The Griffin Elan Passport seemed to be a good combination of being simple, decent material, and easy to carry around and access the Ipad similar to the way one opens and closes a book. After using it for about a week, I'm relatively happy with it. My biggest complaint is that it feels a bit flimsy, and offers very little protection to the Ipad. In addition, the corner straps, while they work fine, do not offer much protection to the sides of the Ipad, and they feel a bit flimsy and cheap to me. In addition, they block the volume buttons and the orientation lock switch.

The case seems to be holding up to a fair amount of use so far, and carrying it around the airport was a breeze. It fits very nicely into the pocket on the back of an airplane seat, and it's easy to open and close, so using the Ipad to quickly check emails or look things up on the internet is very convenient with this case. I think I would prefer the feel of real leather, with a bit more padding, and a better enclosure than the four small straps that hold the Ipad in place. Other than that, I still prefer it to the skins, bags, and other devices I've seen so far. I also ordered a Marware Eco-Vue leather folio case, which I should receive next week and will compare to the Griffin product once I have a chance to try it out.

The Passport was the first and only case I purchased. It is perfect for how I use my iPad.

It is attractive (I have received compliments), well-built and very functional. It is sturdy and does a good job of protecting the device.

The cover flips over on the back and uses the latch to stay closed while it's in use.

The volume button is partially covered by a support strap but it has never activated it nor stopped me from using it.

I use my iPad in portrait mode most of the time and the case makes a great grip for holding.

My only complaint would be the slots on the inside cover of the case. They are so tight that even my glasses shammy is difficult to put in and take out. It's a minor complaint and overall I am very happy.

The Elan Passport is a great case for your iPad. I looked long and hard and selected the Elan for its elegance and professionalism. It protects my iPad and has a spot for my business cards. It would've got 5 stars if it had a secure place to hold my pogo stylus.

I did have a rip appear after two weeks and Griffen is sending me a new case and then I will send them the defective case. It was nice that they allowed me to keep the defective case until the new unit arrives.

I highly recommend the Elan for how functional it is and the support I received from Griffen.

I have looked at the Apple case and it is not bad, but is nothing special, this case has some padding which gives the IPAD a better feel.
I also bought a case from "IGEAR" which looked much like Apples case, which had the ability to angle the pad, it was not stable and was frustrating when it shifted during use. Also it had the tactile feel of black cardboard as I carried it.
I soon switched back to my prior Griffin which which has a better richness when holding but has no angle adjustment when reading, and also the straps cover the microphone and part of the speaker.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Good for the price, case blocks the rotation lock 3 de julio de 2010

This is an elegant and simple case that's a good deal at a price of $25 or so. The price does seem to fluctuate quite a bit.

It's not as snug as Apple's case, but it provides easy access to the charge port. The loops block the power switch, but you can just press the loop in. In some ways that's easier than finding the switch. Another loop blocks access to the rotation lock. That is a defect.

It's not as nice as Apple's case, and it lacks any "stand" feature, but it's available and it's quite a bit cheaper. It feels well made and should last.
