2.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas This item is not calibrated correctly 27 de marzo de 2014

I bought two of TDS-EZ Water Quality Testers and while both are placed in the same glass of water, the one reads 752 ppm and the other 371 ppm. You can only conclude that they have not been calibrated in the factory, as claimed on the packaging.

3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Convenient, simple to use. Not temperature compensated. 30 de diciembre de 2012

Very easy to use and is accurate enough for my needs. Values match the values shown by the tds display on my RO unit's in/out readings to the DI stage.

Update: I have realized that there is a HM Digital TDS-4 Total Dissolved Solids Pocket Size Meter unit available on amazon for just a couple of dollars more than this unit. From what I can gather, the TDS-4 is essentially the same unit but has temperature compensation circuitry that does not exist in the HM TDS-EZ. I did a simple test to see if I could quantify the temperature effect. The effect appears substantial. I am reducing my rating from 5 down to 3. Here are my results using the same sample of tap water at different temperatures:
54 degrees: 220ppm
100 degrees: 404ppm
112 degrees: 434ppm
130 degrees: 540ppm
Plotting this on a graph reveals a linear variation.

This thing is pretty awesome. I tested on a purified bottle of water, I got 004 PPM on the TDS test.... I tested on the tap water at my sink, I got 397 PPM .... I tested on the water filter on my fridge... I got 346 PPM ... that means that water filter sucks! Now... I need to find a polyspun carbon filter with a .05 micron to make sure it's nice and clean ;)

This is a great tool to test your reverse osmosis water. I take this gadget to all of my family's and friend's homes and test their water. Cool gadget that actually serves a purpose. It seems to be pretty spot on as I've tested it along side a different brand of TDS Tester and they were within a few points of each other. Make sure the water you are testing is at room temp before testing, as extreme cold or hot water will throw off the reading and could also damage the prongs and mess up the calibration.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Shocked at my tap water!!! 2 de octubre de 2016

Wow!!! So cool!!! I Just got this delivered. I bought it with my new R/O water purifying system. Didn't install my R/O yet...but just outta curiosity...i wanted to test my refrigerator filter water vs. regular tap water vs. Costco bottled water...
Anything below 50 PPM (parts per millions) is great drinking water.
100 PPM is decent drinking water. Not bad at all.
200 PPM is so so...says you have hard water...but drinkable.
300 PPM is acceptable...average tap water
400 PPM is not so great...but still considered tap water
500 PPM ...wouldn't recommend drinking. (high contaminant levels)
Here were my results...
Costco bottle water = 19 PPM (Excellent drinking water!)
Refrigerator filtered water = 44 PPM (Still great drinking water)
House sink water = 538 PPM!!! Not so good...( i think i have a broken pipe into my home or something...) good that I checked...
Now i need to figure out a way to fix it.

This TDS tester rocks!!!
