So I became educated about watch movements (it's guts) and this movement is based on the highly respected Valjoux/ETA 7753 which is already amazing (found in Breitling and many other watches costing over $5k) but this has an improved power reserve to retain SIXTY hours of power in it's main spring. This is exceptional, allowing you to take it off for 2 days without needing to reset it. The reworked 7753 is an H21 movement and many consider it among the best Chrono movements available in a mass produced watch today.
It keeps exceptional time, draws compliments without being to loud and obnoxious and is everything I wanted out of a sub $2k watch Reliability and parts availability of the Hamilton brand is also a plus.
FYI, the models with the blue hands aren't overstated so don't be afraid of them, it's more subtle in person than in the photos which I'm very pleased with. There are also versions without the blued hands.
I'm happy with this purchase and will consider it a sound investment until I'm ready to get into the $3-5k market.
if i was konw, never buyed it
With due respect to the men who praise this watch (watch taste is very individual), in person it was not for me. I sent it back. The problem is the face materials. The "gray" face is actually semi-metallic, and the dials are iridescent, like a CD. The effect is that the watch is all shine and glare. The numerals and hands, being metallic, are barely distinguishable from the face. I thought this watch was going to have a resonance with designs from the twentieth century, aka "retro." But, all the strength and subtlety of the face design, as conveyed in photos, is lost to the glare.
I had chosen the H32656785 over the earlier H32656833 because I liked the detail of the crescent date display.
In photos, these two models look almost indistinguishable, except the date display. In person, they are completely different, with the H32656833 resembling the photos. The reflectiveness, and lack of contrast, of the H32656785 is not captured in any photo I have seen.
In the end, I returned the H32656785, and purchased the H32656833. The H32656833 is everything I hoped the H32656785 was going to be, and I love it. (I'll be writing a review of it soon).
