3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Not curly birch, sheath insert fell out 7 de julio de 2013

Not much for $160 in terms of the handle and sheath. Handle is straight birch (supposed to be "curly" birch) and hastily finished with color varying significantly. The blade looks pretty nice and was sharp enough to cut me when the knife fell out of the sheath. The sheath has a plastic insert that's seemingly there to keep the knife in the sheath. It looks like it has 2 sided tape on it and it fell out, along with the knife, within 30 minutes of my being disappointed by the handle quality.

I've been a knife collector for 25 years and have paid significantly less for nicer knives. I mostly collect Randalls but also like some lower end knives because I like knives in general. The two Ka-bars I recently purchased we're more satisfying than this knife.

The blade "cool factor" is there with the laminated stainless over carbon. Very cool. Does not make up for the other short comings, but is a beautifully polished laminated blade.

UPDATE: returned it. Amazon return was very simple and account was credited once UPS took possession. Nice friendly return process.

Excellent bushcraft/field knife. Helle makes some great products. I have seen some reviews complaining about some minor fit/finish issues (handle), but I think it gives the knife a little character. It was extremely sharp right out of the box. I've done quite a bit with it and its retaining its edge. I just do some stropping with compound to keep it razor sharp. The handle feels great. You can work with it with little to no fatigue. It has what I call, a half full tang. The tang goes through the length of the handle and is exposed at the top. Its about double the width of a rat tail tang, but about half the width of a full tang. It gives the knife better strength then most other Helles, but still is pretty light. I did test it with some light batoning and it did well. I don't recommend doing heavy batoning with it, but thats not really what (in my opinion) knives are for (get an axe!). I like the sheath. Simple, well made and has very good retention. It carries very well and you quickly forget its there.

I'm very happy about this purchases, but I did take off one star. I believe its a bit overpriced. I collect knives and use them heavily and at that price, you could get a good Bark River or Falkniven. As an example, my Bark River Aurora was about the same price and is very comfortable bush crafting knife, but a lot sturdier and refined. Overall very happy with this product.

Teams up well with my GB Wilderness Hatchet, Bahco Laplander Saw and SAK Farmer!

I have three of these. One is the factory made one with the birch handle. The other two are ones I made using blade blanks from Helle, attaching my own handles and making my own sheaths. In the description for the knife it says there is American Walnut in it. This is misinformation, there is no walnut in this knife. The Temagami holds an edge fairly well and is easy to sharpen. I like the curvature of the knife. I also like the way the handle forms the guard. This is a superior bushcraft/hunting knife. I wish that Helle did a more quality job in their finishing and sanding.

Helle craftmanship is what its all about ! Very stout blade, along with a handle that fits my hand perfectly ! (it helps if your a Viking descendant ) .
To some the price may seem a bit high compared to the competition, in my opinion it is very fair !
The bottom line though, its not something I am going to do anything with it was not intended to do !
I will be better at making a long term reveiw, as I just got the knife, and I intend on using it a lot .

THis knife is awesome. The triple laminate steel is so sharp, retains an edge. Beautiful curly burch handle. Shape of handle allows excellent purchase. Great for bushcrafting. Nordic variety grind.
