Reseña del editor
For Nina O'Connell, a trip round the world was the holiday of a lifetime. Travelling in a group, she is surprised when she runs into an old flame. But Bob Renwick is not there by chance. He is on the hunt for two terrorists who have left a trail of murder in their wake, and soon Nina is caught up in a grim game of life or death, from Bombay to Washington's political elite.Ver Descripción del producto

I now, unfortunately, understand what terrorism is and anarchy and the differences and similarities. So even though methods of communication are out of date, the essential message remains.
Well worth the time spent with this story. I will be rereading more of Helen Macinnes' books.
Though MacInnes is from the WWII generation, her books are not sexless. But, the sex is not addressed directly and for that I am grateful. I have very rarely read a well done sex scene and I usually find it boring or even skim through. But, she loves romance, particularly younger woman falling in love with older accomplished men. She loves good clean American girls, but she also likes the bad girl, betraying her husband or spying on her boyfriend. It's kind of trite and old fashioned, but, frankly, I prefer it to the super hero type (say, Reacher) improbably and easily bedding the beautiful girl. Admittedly, it's not much of a difference, but it is more realistic.
Renwick himself is no Reacher or Bond. He's a professional and he succeeds because of hard work and reasonable ability, but also teamwork. The good guys do not always live in her novels, so be prepared.
Overall, these are excellent books that are just short of classics. They are suspenseful and well written, the characters are likeable or not depending on what side they've chosen. There is a lack of ridiculous coincidence, random events play their role as in real life and though the end result might be predictable, what happens along the way is not.
