Ok, I have to honestly say I bought these (yes, I bought 2) as an alternative to a Gransfors strictly because of the price. They are for my sons. One is 4 and one was just born 2 weeks ago. I will give the other to my youngest when he's older. My oldest found a GB at a local hardware store and wanted it so bad! I just wasn't gonna drop that big of a penny for it!!! Low and behold, found these online and got 2 for less than the GB! Also, I should say I was worried about the shipping because of the fact it was coming from the UK. They made it from there to my doorstep in IL in 4 days. 4 DAYS!!!! That's impressive sir! I tip my hat to the UK's postal system for that!

Quality is on par with a GB as far as I can see. Hand forged head, tailored fit to the hickory handle and a quality grain leather sheath! It is short enough and light enough to be handled with precision on various little odd job tasks, yet sturdy enough to last generations. I'm 6'3" and a pretty big fella, but this lil axe fits me perfectly! The handle is robust enough to get an assuredly firm grip and just long enough you can fit both hands on it. Granted, it would never be swung this way, but gives you an idea of the size. The edge is a very fine one with a nice belly on it and it has been polished down greatly! This edge is easy to maintain with a nice stone. If you are looking to backpack it and are worried about weight, some sandpaper folds up nice and is very light! Easy to learn to sharpen with paper, just go on YouTube. The head still remains in it's nice mill scaled state! You COULD sand or blast this away, but it is the "traditional" look and finish and helps to protect the parent metals.

I never got anything like this from my father, but know I would've cherished it! My son loves to 'help' me split wood (by 'help' I mean he points out the pieces that are too big and tells me to do it again) and always asks to try. Problem is his lil chicken tender arms can't sling around much weight. I also needed a small enough axe that I can teach him how to handle one SAFELY! If you can't handle it safely, you can't handle it at all! That's one of our "guy rules". I know he will love this axe and I hope he will help his lil brother learn to use it in a few years when he is ready. I plan on using the one until my youngest receives it, so it will indeed be field tested. If it's not up to my bushcraft standards, then I will surely change my review. Until then, if you are looking for a solid hand forged Swedish mini pack axe, I'd buy this again in a heartbeat! It's my firm belief that a boy carries what his father teaches him throughout his entire life, might as well have something by his side in the end as well!

Great little axe. Comes razor sharp. Your not gonna chop down a tree with this axe, but it is perfect for chopping limbs, carving, and making kindling. The sheath works perfect. I would recommend this axe to anyone wanting a lightweight axe for backpacking.

I don't know anything about "bushcraft", I didn't buy this for splitting firewood, etc. BUT if you are looking at this axe to use as a potential woodcarving tool, I can tell you this thing is awesome. For roughing in small carvings, decoys, etc., this axe has great balance, and the light weight allows for an incredible amount of control. It arrived shaving sharp. Highly recommended!

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas FANTASTIC little axe! 15 de julio de 2016

Some people will look at this little axe and not give it a thought. well don't, it is hands down one of the handiest little axes I have tried. It can chop and shave like a little pro. Kind of reminds me of a tough Mexican midget wrestler! (sorry not part of the PC crowd). I have chopped up to 3 inch branches \ trees. Made shavings for fire... you name it. It is just one handy tough little axe! Well worth the money. it can take and keeps an edge for a lot of chopping \ shaving etc.

Fits great in a backpack and doesn't wear you out.

Hultafors makes some great woodsman's tools. You just have to love Swedish steel.

I enjoy blades, this is a fun hatchet, it goes on my belt whenever I go on a hike/camping, the sheath works well. I put a razor edge on it fairly easily & it makes kindling nicely. For any heavy chopping I would use one with a 14 in handle. Would def buy again.
