2.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Word of warning about some of the sellers 27 de abril de 2012

Some of the sellers are selling the lenovo OEM of the ultimate n 6300 instead of the official intel version.

The lenovo variants are programmed with a white list for select models. If the card is installed on a system not in the white list, then when you install the drivers, you will have a code 10 error in device manager.

If your card does not work, then check the stickers on the card. if the look of the sticker does not match the one shown in the photo uploaded by Joe Wein on the product page, then you most likely have a lenovo version. (some sellers are stocking the cheaper lenovo versions in hopes of a larger profit margin and the ability to withhold shipping cost and not cover return shipping if you return it, thus making you less likely RMA the item.

The items basically come in a padded envelope, if you see a low subtotal price, and a high shipping cost, then the item is likely to be a lenovo part.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great dual band card that can improve signal quality! 23 de enero de 2011

As of January 22, 2011, Intel has 3 model of wifi cards to choose from
Ultimate-N 6300 - Dual Band (2.4 & 5 GHz) 3x3:3 = Three transmit /receive antennas and three spatial (data) streams (max 450 Mbbps)
Advanced-N 6200 - Dual Band (2.4 & 5 GHz) 2x2:2 = Two transmit / receive antennas and two spatial stream (max 300 Mbps)
Wireless-N 1000 - Single Band (2.4 GHz) 1x2:2 = One transmit & two receive antennas and two spatial stream (max 300 Mbps)

Intel also has some legacy cards that is still for sale. There is the "5300",it has the same features as the 6300, and the "5100" (Dual Band 1x2:2).

My laptop (Windows 7 Pro 64 bits) came with the "Wireless-N 1000" and I have the Netgear WNDR3700 router (2 spatial streams - max 300 Mbps). Before I replaced the wifi card with the 6300, I wanted to see if this upgrade was worth it. I used a program ,"Lan Speed Test", to measure throughput of both cards (this program works by writing/reading a file to a shared folder of another computer and measuring the throughput). To get an idea of the numbers to expect, using a wired Ethernet connection showed an upload speed of 530 Mbps and a download speed of 660 Mbps. For the "Wireless-N 1000" card, I notice the upload speed was inconsistent; ranging from 32 to 65 Mbps. While the download speed was consistently around 70 Mbps. Performing this test on the 6300, the 2.4 GHz band, showed consistent upload/download speeds around 70 Mbps. Looking at the specs you can see upgrading from 1 to 3 transmit antennas increased the signal quality and allowed for consistent upload speeds. I also tried the 6300 with just 2 antennas and the results were very similar to the 3 antenna test. For the test on the 6300 with the 5 GHz band, it showed 115 Mbps up and 128 Mbps down. It will be interesting to see to how this card works with the Netgear WNDR4000 router (3 spatial stream - max 450 Mbps)

Update (1/30/2011): I tried this card on the Linksys E4200 router (supports 3 spatial stream) and the throughput on the 5 GHz band showed 129 Mbps up and 148 Mbps down. Also, I updated the test results based on the improved version of "Lan Speed Test"

Physically installing the card was easy. It is a matter of disconnecting the antennas and removing two screws from the old wifi card and doing the reverse to install the new card. The hard part was fixing the dreaded "1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card." error that occurs during the boot up of the laptop. It turns out Lenovo has a whitelist in the BIOS to only allow certain wifi cards. To fix this issue you have to create/obtain a modified BIOS with the whitelist removed. If you do come across this issue, type "my digital life bios mod whitelist" in good ole Mr Google and he will help you find a solution.

It does what I wanted it to do, provide a solid fast connection. There has been no drop outs with the card or any strange issues. So far, I am totally satisfied with the purchase.

This 1/2-height Mini PCI-Express card was a direct, drop-in replacement for a crappy, run of the mill Atheros (AzureWave) 5895 WiFi card that came OEM in my new Asus G51JX-A1 Republic of Gamers laptop, easy to install, just two small mini-screws, pop the antennas off the old adapter, snug the new N-6300 Ultimate WiFi card in the PCI-Express Mini-slot, and BAM, WHAM, THANK YOU 'MAM! You're styling to go with the finest, best connected setup in WiFi Land these days, there is nothing to top this WiFi setup presently, it's the creme of the crop, the best of the best, and if you don't have it in your laptop you're sort of being well, dumb about it!

My G51JX-A1 just happened to come wired up with the 3rd antenna for the Wifi card, simply tucked up onto the OEM WiFi card with a plastic shield for the cap, and a piece of electrical tape, so installing the N-6300 WiFi card with 3 antennas was no problem with my setup. YMMV if you don't have 3 antennas and it would behoove you, if you just have two, to purchase one here on for a couple bucks, or on eBay for that matter, and install it yourself because the range and the quality of the signal with 3 antennas is just unbelievable!

At idle my network WiFi readout is 180 to 280Mb/sec for this card, which is off-scale, while in full bore 5.8Ghz mode with my Linksys L3000 Router in charge, I have seen the fabled 450Mb/sec speed that everybody raves is possible with this adapter, and ONLY with this adapter. In addition, I have been able to download multiple files at the same time, with no degradation of service, getting all the files intact more of less simultaneously, and instantly to boot, so Kudos to Intel for designing in such a fantastic switching mechanism into this WiFi adapter that does both 2.4 and 5.8Ghz signals simultaneously, inbound and outbound both, which is the 1st card to do such a thing! You can stream to your heart's delight with this device in your laptop, because it's gonna work, yessir it most likely will, especially if you have the 3 antennas in the house!

For a paltry sum you too can have/use this great WiFi adapter, so get one if your notebook is upgradeable in the WiFi adapter dept, like mine is, and get to enjoy the best, and finest WiFi experience that $$$ can buy, bar none. This one gets Wavey Davey's 5 Gold Stars Award for high quality, unique features, easy installation, and plug and play simplicity with the driver CD ROM in the box, to boot! You will NOT be disappointed if you order this beautiful tech thing and get your laptop into the 21st Century, where it can connect to its little heart's delight, and then some.
