This loose leaf version of the text is an amazing bargin. However, the publisher did not take into account how you would store the papers - the holes punched in it do NOT fit in a standard 3-ring binder, they are not spaced properly. This happened to every student in my course.

The text provides an informative, easy-to-read introduction to developmental psychology. Some students found the numerous side notes to be a bit distracting while going through their chapters.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas I used this edition instead of the 2nd edition 29 de diciembre de 2014

I used this edition instead of the newer 2nd edition for my Fall 2014 Developmental Psy class. The chapters are the same as the newer edition with the only differences being page numbers and a few pictures that were added. Buy the 1st edition, its much cheaper and there is very little difference between this one and the 2nd edition.

I bought this to save the money from the newer edition and so far haven't noticed any needed changes with my tests at all, been passing them no problems! This is a pretty informative text about the lifespan from fetus to oldage, each chapter covering each stage of the human development. It is interesting for a parent, a psychology student, sociology student, future teacher or anyone really. Highly Recommended!

The information in the book is great but that's the only thing that is. I bought this book thinking it was actually going to be as easy as just slipping it into my binder. to start off, the biggest fault in this is that it will not fit into a 3 ring binder. I'm not sure if in other countries they use different sized binders (cause its an international ed.) but it will not fit into any binder that i have seen. apart from that the pages are so cheaply made and it's aggravating enough that you cant flip through pages but its even more aggravating that when you do try to flip through pages the pages rip. It is quite frustrating and for 20 dollars more i would rather have saved myself the frustration and bought the softcover. Hope this helps anybody who is trying to save a buck. IT IS NOT WORTH IT BUY THE NORMAL BOOK!!!

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great book for students and professors- contains info on ebook and launchpad for buyers 22 de marzo de 2015

For students: I am an instructor and I have been using the book for over 5 years at both the community college and university level. Students really seem to like the book. The 14-15 chapter format is very helpful for 8 or 16 week classes; students don't seem overwhelmed by reading "too many chapters" or chapters that are too long. I have consistently been told that students enjoy reading the book also, which has been confirmed with end-of-semester evaluations.

For buyers: For those of you who need launchpad (the online tool which comes with fully electronic book), just the e-book, or a combination format (launchpad/ebook with looseleaf), I would recommend going directly to the publisher's website. Although I have never personally experienced problems with outdated resources or expired access codes on amazon, students have said this is a concern for them. As of March 2015, the pricing for launchpad (the online program with the online ebook) was about $65. The price for launchpad (with ebook) AND a loose leaf copy of the book was $99.

For professors: I am pleased with the writing, organization, and instructor materials. For example, the test bank is easy to use and export into a variety of online systems (D2L, ANGEL, Moodle, and Blackboard). The test bank has no major errors that I have detected so far. The slides that come with the book could be enhanced, but I find that with every book.

I also find the publisher and tech team to be very helpful. I have received many personal calls/emails from them when adopting their books and consistently return to them due to good communication.

Be aware there are two versions of this book with the same cover. The one above has the DSM-V updates. There is an older one (2013?) with the same cover but no DSM update. Ask your professor which one is best. In my opinion, they are pretty comparable for this course so there is no need spending extra $. However, each professor and program is different.
