5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Very effective, but you must first learn to use it. 23 de marzo de 2014

I am 79 years old and have urge incontinence resulting from laser-TURP of a large prostate 9 years ago. I have now used the J-clamp daily for the last 40 days, and have become confident in its use. This required experimentation with positioning and clamp tightness with the primary objective of preventing the device from dislodging during physical activity, while minimizing contusions. Preventing leakage, beyond occasional minor dribbles, was easier to accomplish. To those whose "endowment" might inhibit them from trying this device, let me share my relief that the J-clamp fitted and stayed put despite the shrinkage in girth of my penis through age, disuse and finasteride. However, let me register my disappointment that Jackson Medical Products did not see fit to include in its instructions, precautions in use of penile clamps that can be found in the sparse medical literature on this subject: they are contraindicated where incontinence has resulted from spinal injury, in subjects with poor memory or having limited manual dexterity.

The manufacturers support site kindly informed me that the silicone rubber "comfort cushion" (which I had misplaced) can be purchased at the following Jackson Medical site: : www jacksonmedicalstore.com / product-p/428-insert.htm .

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Nice clamp! 4 de agosto de 2013

I was fine before my prostatectomy, 6 years ago . . . <g>

Since then, I've tried pads (don't like them) and condom catheters (with leg bag) to control mild leakage during exercise.

I've converted to the J-clamp. It's unobtrusive, fits into a pocket, and can be applied and removed quickly. It's comfortable and invisible when it's on. [I haven't tried it with bike shorts -- that might be pushing things!] The design is quite sophisticated; it concentrates maximum force on the urethra, and puts minimum pressure on the rest of the penis.

There's no foam to wear out, crack, and collect germs. It washes clean with soap and water. It's going to last a _long_ time.

I try not to wear it for more than 1.5 hours at a stretch.

If you're having trouble with incontinence, and you don't need _continuous_ -- all-day, or all-night -- protection against leakage, the J-clamp is worth trying.

I believe in telling it like it is as I experienced. 5 stars is an indication of how well the devise functioned however, it is certainly no indication that I had any affection for it. Several adjustment points, ease of use and it shut off my urine flow following the prostate operation to the point that I could return to a water aerobics class. It was a relatively short time that I need this type of assistance. If you are a male & in a similar situation I would recommend this device. Yes there is discomfort, its part of the equation.

3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas works but breaks 29 de enero de 2014

I like this clamp, have purchased four. Thats the problem, they break where the wire is attached to the clamp. When a get a new one I epoxy both ends that the clamp wire is attached to the clamp but even that doesn't stop the plastic hinge from breaking. I will try to reinforce the hinge better with the new one. When its not broken the clamp works well for me.
