The only minor gripe is the removable side screens hit my face on the left side. I think that's because I'm an imperfect person (just ask my girlfriend, haha!), and my nose is not perfectly centered on my temples. Just something to be aware of, if they rub on your face it may be irritating. Also, I think these are made for people with larger heads, because they look HUGE on my face. The coverage is still quite good, but they don't look particularly "cool" when I'm posing for photos lol!
Overall, I'm very happy with the functionality of the glasses, quite excellent for the price. They may not be the most stylish glasses out there, but I'm much more concerned about how they perform, and it excels at that.
UPDATE 10/14: I ended up buying a different pair (Julbo Tensing M) since I really didn't like how enormous these are. These are still fine, but I will just use them at work when I'm in the field all day. The Tensing's are actually way lighter than these, and feel better on my face. I would only recommend these to people with HUGE heads...
If it's daylight out I need strong sunglasses to be able to function, and these ones work even for me. These glasses filter out light much better than even my custom and prescription glasses -- the ones I had to beg the techs to add extra "darkening." The effect from the lens "color" did take a little getting used to, but its a minor and temporary quibble.
I've read that these are men's glasses -- not necessarily. The styling and sizing does work unisex for some women -- if you're petite and have a thin face, these are very well likely not the glasses for you. Women who have wider/more rounded faces and prefer a less-tight fit are in luck. These are probably the most comfortable sunglasses I have ever owned.
These glasses are plastic, but they seem quite substantial and take a lot of abuse. These aren't an expensive upgrade of your $5 Walmart sunglasses; instead, they are a more economical (and abuse-tolerant) version of your custom sunglasses.
I loved these.
One note: these are very dark and not good for driving (I live in sunny Southern California). First, unless it's an extremely sunny day, you'll have trouble discerning subtle differences in shadow and shape. Second, even with the side shades removed (they pop off with small plastic pins) the frame of the glasses is wide and blocks peripheral vision.
But on hikes in the desert in blazing sun or out on the water, the Julbo shades can't be beat. Very pleased with this purchase.
The glasses are definitely for a larger face, they're almost too big for my face which is a nice switch since a lot of glasses run on the small side. I think these would fit over a winter hat with no problem. They come with a very thin neck cord and rather strange looking and large case that does a great job of protecting them.
The ear pieces are flexible and can be molded to fit tightly behind your ears but they do bend every time I take them off. They seem very well made but I'll have to see how long they last without breaking from the constant bending. This is the only reason I'm not giving them a 5 star rating.
