4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Good overall balance of cost and cleaning power. 14 de mayo de 2016
Por Minnesota Mike - Publicado en
I like it; I just don't love it.

I've got a lot of experience with both gas and electric pressure washers. Karcher has been in the game for a long time and offer many sizes and types of washers. This K5 model boasts an impressive 2,000 PSI at 1.4 gallons per minute. That's not a whole lot of GPM for that pressure, likely because a larger volume pump would simply cost more to have the in the unit.

The pressure washer was fairly easy to put together and took me about 20 minutes. At least 10 of those minutes was spent trying to get the high pressure hose to seat into the pressure pump itself. What a pain in the you know what. I don't know if the machining was slightly off or what, but seriously I was ready to drink a second beer. At any rate, I got it all together and it looks pretty sharp.

During use, this puppy is quiet. I can't believe how quiet it is when it runs. Using the high pressure wand it really doesn't feel like 2,000 PSI to me. Maybe it's because it's a lower volume output or 2K is simply the peak power. It does do a good job at cleaning and if you need this to clean off the deck, wash the car, wash the will do just fine for you. If you plan to use it commercially; look elsewhere.

Overall, this is a good balance of power and value, but if you need something really heavy duty, plan on forking out another $200. Having said that, you have to keep in mind this is NOT a $500 gas pressure washer, so the folks comparing it to that just isn't fair. I did receive this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest an unbiased opinion of it. I hope you found my review helpful and if so, please click the yes button below. Thanks!

I've use electric power washers and gas power washers in the past, so I feel qualified to compare this electric one vs gas washers. I am very happy with this power washer. Very easy to assemble despite the instructions which just gave me a sequence of assembly. It did the job on some tough stains on my front walk and driveway. I live in Florida and the high humidity quickly builds up the moss on anything that doesn't get direct sunlight. The water pressure and nozzle worked like a charm on the worst areas. I've attached some before and after pictures. One shows a brick with most of the moss cleaned off with some remaining to show how it cut through it. I was an instant hero to my wife ! Happy wife .. happy life !!

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas A premium Price that matches a Premium Product. Cheaper options are available but you get what you pay for. 22 de abril de 2016

Big upgrade. I had previously purchased a special AR Blue basic entry level electric pressure washer on a whim (gold box deal if I recall). I was never really "happy" with it other then keeping it on context of what i paid for it. At about $100 you kind of learn to live with the fact that it leaks water from various points (even when brand new), that far too many parts are just plastic (And cheap plastic at that), etc. My previous AR Blue model was a perfect example of you get what you pair for. After three years of light usage we decided to upgrade. The old AR Blue will be "donated" to some friends who just bought a house (they keep asking to borrow it so we decided to just let them have it) and the Karcher will take it's place.

First things first, this still an electric pressure washer so no, it's not going to provide the same level of power that a gas pressure washer will (2500+ PSI for some) but I do find that it is "that much closer" so to speak then the old AR model. The best way I can frame it is in time, and while I would say this Karcher doesn't work "twice as fast" as our older cheaper AR model it's definitely in the range of 50-60% more efficient since I can spray wider and still remove material from the driveway. With the bottom of the barrel AR Blue model we had to basically walk with the gun almost to a needle point to get enough pressure to effectively get all the moss and growth from the winter off. Also while the AR model feels like what it is (cheap plastic) the K5 feels significantly heavier in the hand, and also has far burlier wheels. I saw one reviewer say he tipped his unit without "much force" but to that I can only say this is probably how every electric pressure washer is going to be (that I've seen) based on how they are designed to be taller and take up less floor space. The hose is ample, so if your paying attention to your location you should never need to "pull it forward" and really, just walk back and roll it up on the wheels. The unit is NOT designed to be "tugged" or pulled on simply put and it's a user error in my opinion (my AR blue does the exact same thing, if you run out the reel and aren't paying attention and keep moving forward the unit will tug behind you and tip over so it's not really an issue with the K5 specifically in my opinion).

If you are like us and want something to blow off the patio or maybe make washing a car go a little faster but don't have a huge garage or storage shed these little compacts are great. They store super easily, you don't need to keep gas on hand to run them and they won't drive your neighbors insane. While I never tried anything "in the middle" compared to the basement models that sell for around $100 the K5 Premium is definitely a huge upgrade. From the fit and finish on the unit itself (no leaks) to the amount of "effective" work area, everything I can see touch and feel has been a huge improvement but again, you get what you pay for. If you only have $120 to spend, the entry level models still get the work done, you just have to live with it taking longer and based on my experience (and reviews I've ready) lots of water leaking!

Product ships in it's original carton which originally alarmed me a little bit but it's packed very well inside of that box (clearly intended to be shipped this way from the factory) and it is both taped and wrapped in straps (See photo).

This product was purchased with my own funds, the seller did provide a promotional discount in exchange for agreeing to share my thoughts and opinions on the product. No other consideration or compensation was exchanged nor did the seller have any input on the content of my write up or place any expectations on my shared experience!

Like many have said, the hose connection is made of plastic and felt cheap. Luckily, I had the brass connection from my dead power washer which I used instead of the plastic one supplied with the unit.

I've used it to power wash most of my house and am very pleased with its cleaning capabilities. For washing the house, I use the non-turbo nozzle and it cleans the vinyl siding well even without using any soap/cleaner. Parts of the house had heavy mildew so using no cleaner impressed me. I've also used it to clean the wheels on my car and once again, no solvent is required to do a thorough job; comparable to what I used to do with wheel cleaner and a bottle brush.

I've used the turbo attachment for cleaning some of the driveway and it has done a satisfactory job but I have not used it as extensively as the non-turbo attachment.

I definitely prefer this one to my now dead Husky electric PW. Much more power with the non-turbo attachment but to be fair, I do not recall the PSI rating of the Husky so this may not be a fair comparison.

The true test, for me, will be in how long it lasts. The water cooled motor give me hope that it will outlast my previous unit.

2.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas The 1.4 GPM Doesn't Provide Enough Water to Clean Effectively 26 de febrero de 2017

What a disappointment! The K5 Premium is a 2000 psi, 1.4 gpm pressure washer; I purchased it to replace my 20-year old Karcher electric 1400 psi, 1.9 gpm unit, in which the GFIC on the plug caught fire. I thought I would reward myself with a new electric Karcher for light duty pressure washing (I have a gas Karcher (2400 psi, 2.5 gpm) for heavier duty washing; and have been happy with their product and wanted to stick with the brand. However, the new K5 was not much more powerful than a garden hose with a sharp nozzel. I mistakenly believed the 2000 psi specification was more important than the 1.4 gpm number, when it was really the other way around; the GPM number is the more important measure of cleaning effectiveness! So, I pulled my old electric Karcher out of the garbage, and attached a new plug (I purchased from the hardware store of $5), and it works fine, way better than the K5! Since the K5 weighs 40 pounds, I won't send it back, I will probably try to sell it for $100 or give it away. The K5 is what it is, it is a step up from a garden hose, so I'm giving it 2 stars. My bad!
