These new KEF speakers are wonderful and for a price less than a car. There is a real clarity in their response, nothing ``muddy'' in the sound. I listen to rock and jazz and also use them as part of my surround sound system. They also are sleek in appearance slightly smaller than I had anticipated, that fits well in the small room where they are located. I am very happy with the sound, performance and price of these speakers.
These speakers sound amazing...very deep, brilliantly neutral image for the price. 5 stars all the way, enjoy!
Though I didn't buy them from Amazon, the packaging is the same from the manufacturer. And the packaging is terrible!
What a nightmare to see the bent, torn, and punctured boxes as delivered by UPS. One speaker had a deep crack and rip right next to a driver. Both boxes were dirty and scuffed, as if they'd been shoved, kicked, and thrown around a loading dock. Speakers are delicate. It's quite possible to have damage inside the speaker, even if you can't see it on the surface, when it's been thrown around like that.
It is possibly that delivery depot workers and drivers resent having to deliver such large and heavy boxes. There's the rub, probably: KEF may be concerned on the other hand about raising prices for better delivery service. Maybe the answer could be better designed and structured packaging out of light weight and sturdier material.
We consumers of Q900s are certainly not well-served as it is now. It's a pain in the neck to rebox the damaged speakers, especially if you set them up and wired before you removed the screens, as I did. Also, such a pity that beautiful, excellent quality speakers are wasted and trashed this way. (More poisonous MDF in the environment too, as multiplied by needing an additional set to replace the damaged ones.) This all takes the fun out of what should have been a delightful and rewarding experience.
