Its got sealed Ball Bearings at all the pivot points and a very heavy counter weight (smooth operation) when nothing anywhere's near this price can say the same. Did a lot of research, and if you buy an elliptical, and plan to use it, if it doesn't have ball bearings it'll be JUNK in a year. Couldn't find anything under $1500 with ball bearings except for this one. Got mo $ ?, above $1500 lots of other good ones around.

After 6 months of research and reading reviews on multiple elliptical trainers, I opted for the Kettler Verso 309. I felt pretty confident in what I had read comparative to other more expensive trainers. Now I wish I would have tried one in person. The set up was relatively easy, it looks exactly as described but is it ever noisy!! The first two times I used it, perfect, loved it. By my third time on, it started to creak and squeak. The fourth time, there was a consistent popping noise like something was catching. I had to remove all of the plastic covers (which were a pain to put on in the first place) to try to pinpoint the problem. After re-adjusting anything that looked like it may be the culprit it still squeaks and groans like it is in misery. No, I am not over the weight limit ; ) There is a fair amount of movement which I expect comes with smaller ellipticals that don't have the industrial weight of the ones in the gyms. The display board is a joke, cheap and awkward to use. That said, it works fine for getting up a good sweat, has smooth motion and is definately affordable. But be prepared, if you are lucky like me, you might need to wear earplugs to endure your workout.

In a few short years I went through two Tony Little Gazelles, which were made to sell not to use. The Gazelles employed bushings instead of ball-bearings…so, I was seeking an exerciser hosting not only ball-bearings but also a small footprint and decided to give this Kettler Verso 309 a try…5-years to the month later the underlining steel framing near the front of this unit fractured making continued usage impossible/unsafe. Suspect the poor engineering e.g. bottom region cutout/hole in channel frame along with minor twisting torque created during normal usage the culprit. I have emailed Kettler for advise but have yet to receive a reply, which I will attempt to update their reply to what appears to be a design and/or material flaw when available.
In the meantime, I am without an exerciser, thus I solicit others here for their experienced recommendations to a viable alternative hosting a quality design that includes a small footprint, ball-bearings and a support structure capable of supporting long-term safe usage. FWIW: I am female weighting less than 130 pounds.
