Reseña del editor
Savvy crafters know that today's hippest designs hail from Japan. But it's near to impossible to find translated patterns. Or at least it used to be, With "Amigurumi", we're proud to present one of the first books in our "Let's Make Japanese Crafts" line. Amigurumi (the Japanese name for small knit and crocheted creatures so cute you could cry) is the hottest global craft craze. This book enjoyed huge success on its home shores. The book's pages burst with quirky colour photographs, step-by-step directions, and helpful technical illustrations. At last, the ease of English instruction with the appeal of authentic Japanese content.

Everybody who can crochet, will be able to follow the step-by-step guide. I am no knitting and crochet wizard. But even I could do it.
To make one of the tiny animals takes about - depending the commitment - 1 to 5 days.
Sewing them together may seem daunting - but it also works; by just starting to assemble the parts and continue sewing without thinking too much.
The designs are very, very cute. Tiny teddy bears, pigs, ducks, butterflies, dogs, and cats.
They are out of the ordinary.
I think you have to expect to experiment with yarn sizes as she is using very different yarns than what we have, and I think this is part of the fun. I think the pattern symbols are great, it makes it so simple to follow. The symbols for increase and decrease are really a simple picture of what the stitch actually looks like, how easy it makes it!
I haven't made all the patterns so there may be problems I haven't run into yet, but for the ones I've done and the problems people were having with them I know it has been from reading the pattern wrong. The cover bear is one a beginner should have no problems with. I've made the cover bear in different yarn sizes including a tiny tiny one from baby yarn, really cute. I made the sheep from some fuzzy yarn and thought I would go cross eyed trying to see the stitches, but it turned out cute. When making a bear's head my marker fell out and I really didn't want to have to figure out where in the heck I was so I used what I had to make the shell for a sea turtle, it turned out really cute.
For anyone thinking of buying this book I would say do it. The symbols make it sooo easy, much better than lots of words. I've been crocheting for over 50 years and this was my first time with these symbols and I wish all my patterns were this easy.
Since leaving the above review I have used this book many times. I have made many of the animals and still have not run into any problems. There have been no mistakes so far and no instructions have been left out. I have made at least 6 butterflies, all different sizes and colors. So far the butterfly is my favorite, and the frog, and the duck, and ...
I would also like everyone to know that the book is nicely made. The cover is nice, glossy and smooth. The pages are sewn and not just glued.
