Sinopsis

Formato: Blu-ray Compra verificada
First, for those reading the reviews because the product description does not currently include the disc's region, it plays flawlessly on my region 1 player and displays the disc menu in English. (The number of audio language options suggests it *might* be region zero.).

Technically, this is a very impressive disc. The video looks great and is anamorphic widescreen. The English audio track is 5.1 DTS and sounds fantastic. The English subtitles are also displayed properly. There is an impressive number of other language audio tracks and subtitles included on disc, but I only selected the English ones for this review. The only extra included on the disc is the original theatrical trailer, but I couldn't deduct for that.

Overall, this is a great high quality import that is a very good alternative to the more expensive US bluray release.

I saw this movie when I was about 16 and fell in love with it...well, with Michelle i guess..and the whole idea of going through any obstacles to reach the love and all...the determination of the knight inspired me to try to be stronger and more decisive kid and the sights of ancient Italy really had me melt.

Time went on and though 45 now, I confess that -even when some aspects of the contents and technical details are perceived differently, of course- I am still fond of this movie and brings me backs to my 16 everytime.

Now the good thing is that this bluray brought all the memories back in the best quality ever, even better than I can remember of those two times I saw the movie back then at the theatre. Two days on a row i admit...was offscreened next day, since not exactly a big hit by those days. I could have gone to watch it all week...

Image quality is wonderfull with some variations in quality in some passages but certaily faithfull to whatever original material they could retrieve when remastering it. And the sound -stereo for me by now- was clearest ever as well. Alan Parsons 80's typical sound is amazing.

Only drawback is the lack of any additional material but I guess there will be another version of it coming out anytime when released in the US. I took one star out becasue of this, just to be critical, but would give 5 stars for the movie itself.

Summing up, if you like this movie in any way or want to see Michelle at her origins, beautifull and young and -relatively-fresh and enjoy amazing italian sunset/sunrise views -if been to Italy you will love these scenes- definitley go and get one copy!

It is embarrassing that an american released movie like Ladyhawke, is only available on Blu-ray in Italy!!. Well, at least we have to thank 20th Century Fox for releasing it on all -region Blu-ray looking absolutly beautiful: pin sharp, and glorious colors, just like I remember it in the theater back in 1985.The bitrate is as high as 40 MB per second, accounting for the 50G disc. The DTS soundtrack could have been imroved further, but is quite accceptable. It also has many language tracks and optional subtitles. This blu-ray is night and day when compared to the very inferior north american release on DVD which isn't even anamorphic. The only extras are the original trailer in 1.85:1 ratio and in standard definition, but the feature is in 2.35:1 I think the price for this blu-ray import is reasonable at $24.95, plus about $4.95 shipping from Italy. Then again, I would buy this movie over and over again because it is simply beautiful, and remains one of my favorites even 26 years later!!!

I loved this movie when it first came out and have seen it many times. I bought this when I realized I hadn't seen it more than 10 years and thought it would be fun to see it again. Even though I enjoy the overall story, there are still some jarring bits that always break up the mood. Matthew Broderick seems to be trying too hard and he just doesn't inhabit his character Phillippe the Mouse. He just seems to be too modern for the period they are trying to show. And while I don't hate the music, it just seems to be wrong for this type of movie. The redeeming features of Rutger Hauer as a great knight; a luminous Michelle Pfeiffer; the gorgeous cinematography; the spectacular horses; and some cool sword fighting scenes make the movie worth buying and seeing over and over again.
