I am a side-sleeper and purchased this as part of a recommendation from Sleepopolis (YT) in early 2019. I liked the pillow for its comfort, but I would have preferred a different internal material. Seems like it would be a pain in the buttocks to remove any of the crushed memory foam materials, to either wash it or create a better feel when laying down. I just used it as-is. It's simply an OK rating for me. Not bad, but not loving it. I found the tag particularly annoying, no matter where I put it. Why can't we sew things like this inside of the pillowcase? Not like I need to be reminded every time I lay down that it's a certain brand of pillow......... I have noticed more neck/back pain when using a solid memory foam pillow, and considered switching back to this one, but it's just too squishy and uncomfortable for me.....

I ordered a king size last year and really loved the pillow but after a few dryer sessions and doing everything I was told to keep it with the right amount of rise the pillow just started getting flatter and flatter. So, I contacted Layla to see if I could just order the filler for the pillow. I couldn't. My solution, since I was looking to get a 2nd pillow, was to order the 2 Queen size bundle which made the 2nd pillow from that new order my sacrificial pillow that I used just for the filling.
I will say this....the 2 queen pillows were way flatter than my original purchase. The insides were much smaller pieces of memory foam and my original pillow had very little Kapok filling in it. The 2 queen pillows had a tone of the Kapok filling.
Anyway, now I have 1 king and 1 queen pillow that are truly overstuffed and when there are stuffed they are the best pillows I've ever used. I just wish they had an overstuffed option up front b/c it seems like their new shipments of pillows uses less fill or smaller foam pieces or a combo of the two...I viewed my sacrificial pillow as me just buying filler from them and since it was half off it probably cost as much as they would have charged if that was an option anyway.

I rarely ever write a review so for me to do this means a lot!!!

Was starting to get lower back, shoulder (mainly on the side that I sleep on), and neck pain. Was thinking that it was due from the years of kickboxing, and sitting at a desk until I went for a massage and they worked the biggest knot out of my shoulder I felt instantly better. After that session a few nights later my shoulder and back started acting up again but this time I had noticed I was sleeping on that side again. I started doing research and noticed there are different pillows for the different positions of sleep. I did start stacking a travel pillow on top of my normal pillow (a memory foam cool temp pillow from Costco) and noticed that my mornings of aches and pains were less than what the were when I just had the one so I knew I needed a new pillow. I finally narrowed down to the Lala or the one that was about $60 more. I selected this one because I had the option to remove the filling if it's too high (5'1 petite frame) and I if I wasn't satisfied I could return it within the specified time frame. I didn't care if the cover was not removable because I would be using a pillow case on it anyways and I could handle spot cleaning and if need be I can carefully remove the filling and wash the whole thing. Also, the higher end I wasn't sure how it would feel actually laying on my back before I go to sleep just kind of skimming the last of emails, social media or whatever prior to calling it a night I wanted to have this option too.

The moment I received it I was prepared to let it air out 24hrs because like others mentioned there was a chemical smell. The next evening I slapped a pillow case on it and was ready to test it out. It was a little high at first but this is what I wanted, I just needed to get used to the Layla vs. normal pillow shape memory foam pillow. First nights sleep was great! I woke up with absolutely no pain what so ever and I'm happy to say two weeks later this is still the same. Now my only somewhat "con" to this pillow, please remember I am coming from a memory foam pillow so I've been spoiled to this, but I do find I have to flip the pillow every night because the pieces of foam do shift towards the top of my head but that's to be expected since I read other experienced the same. This was the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

This side sleeper loves this pillow and I'm keeping it!

This was my first time purchasing a pillow that was more than $20 from a Target/Walmart, etc. I was hoping that a better pillow would help me get better sleep for once in my life, and landed on this one as I like a cool pillow, prefer them a good mix between soft and firm, and needed something that could deal with my variable sleeping positions through a night.
That said, I've had it for about 9 months now and I'm done attempting to adjust and fluff it every single night for some form of comfortability. I really wanted to give it a proper amount of time before deciding if it was the right fit, especially as I've never had a pillow of this 'quality' before, and that took me well beyond the return date. I've just been tolerating it ever since until deciding a review was in order as I'm debating searching for another more 'quality' pillow once more, hoping that this product isn't reflective of all around this price range
Ultimately, I think I'd rather go back to buying the cheap ones if this is the standard set for a pillow that's 5x the price, as I'd save money on something that's about the same feel overall and only have to replace it once or twice in the time I've had this pillow so far.

Overall thoughts:
The fill inside is very nice and soft, but the pillow as a whole struggled to keep its shape longer than a single night for the first couple months, and since then has failed to hold its shape for longer than an hour or so leaving my head near directly on the mattress before I'm actually able to fall asleep, which is extremely frustrating.
It's no more cooling than a standard pillow, unfortunately.
It was the easiest time I've had adjusting to a new pillow, and I didn't have to remove any filling inside to get to that point, but that could partially be attributed to the pillows I used before being near-identical in height.
While it doesn't hold form very well, it is very easy to fluff it back to a proper, even distribution. If you have more patience than me, you might not mind having to do it 2+ times a night.

I think I have slept on and owned this pillow long enough to write an honest review.

I am a side sleeper and bought this pillow as it was recommended for my type. First thing I really liked was the cover the pillow came with. I still really like it. The pillow comes with way too much cushion which is made from Kapok and some cut up foam pieces. You can adjust the amount of cushion inside by removing or adding as you choose. However, this is where the major problem starts. The cut up parts of the foam literally do nothing for support, in fact, I would say it would make the support more uneven if anything. I have tried to adjust the amount of cushion, which by the way gets messy but if I remove too much, then it loses the whole reason why it is good for side sleepers. If I don't remove enough, the pillow likes to create a big divot where your head lies and unless you sleep in the exact position, it just pressures your head in causing it to be uncomfortable. The annoying amounts of times I have had to fluff up the pillow while tired and sleepy has forced me to write this negative review. I have never tossed and turned so much. I do not recommend, especially at this price point.
