Downside is that the hose isn't quite long enough to reach over the handle and down to the base again. There is clearn a cutout in the base and the handle so the hsoe is supposed to loop over and then secure into the base, but on mine you really have to stretch the hose to get it to reach. It DID come with the hose stretched like this (from Amazon) but it cannot be good.
Their thread on "chuck" system is love it or hate it. Threading it onto presta valves can be a chore because the slip fit that lets the "chuck" spin onto the threads while the hose remains stationary (the hose can't spin much because it's rigidly attached to the base of the pump) isn't a very loose fit. I find it slightly annoying, but the way the chuck/tip threads on IS amazing once it's threaded on. Every other pump i've used has a chuck that makes the hose perpendicular to the wheel (sideways). With this the hose runs in between the spokes and puts no pressure on the valve really (rotate tire so valve is facing downwards).
I can definitely see why a lot of people would hate the thread on style chuck, so they include a press fit attachment that is held onto the presta valve stem by the friction of an oring. I find it to work only moderately well, and I dont mind/do like the threaded attachment so I just use that one.
The real deal is that Lezyne makes a >$100 quick release chuck that is omazing. If you're serious about pumping up tires then that chuck + this pump is a nice combo.
Anyway, i spent a few dollars more than I had to in order to get this pump and it's exceeded my expectations. Do your research on the thread-on chuck and if you think you might like it then BUY THIS PUMP
In addition to the universal connector (Presta/Schradder) it is also equipped with quick chunk, needle and cone adapters.
The quick chunk is also for Presta valves. However, I prefer using thread connections as soon as they do not disturb the valve mechanisms. Meanwhile, not all of them... but this drive definitely takes care about your valves. And, actually, this universal device has no drawbacks because every connector is a separate device. If you need a needle, just install it, need to pump your car -- just change the main adapter to the opposite side, etc.
The overall quality is excellent. Very convenient for pumping, powerful enough to get the necessary pressure without a fuss.
The only issue is that just being connected, the gauge does not show the air pressure until you start pumping. I read about this before purchasing... At last, this is not a serious issue. I suspect, that it is caused by the ABS preventing loss of air mentioned above.
Taking this pump to my hand, I feel the real quality -- construction, materials used, the quality of assembling. It is very rarely that you can find such a quality thing nowadays. It even has small rubber feet preventing scratching your floor surface when pumping.
Meanwhile, Lezyne also produces another high quality pumps like CNC Dirt Floor Drive (the top model). I thought about this model but the price was too high, and I decided to buy the Classic Dirt Drive. It was the right decision.
I highly recommend this model to everybody who needs a high volume floor pump (up to 70 psi).
