On November 25, 2011 I placed an order with Amazon. As usual I used a Litter Locker II refill cartridge to bring my order up to the $25 mark to qualify for free shipping. At $5.99, buying a refill on every Amazon order had become routine. Please don't get me wrong. I LOVE the Litter Locker II and will not ever go back to using anything else. Odor-free is absolutely the truth. If you use a different method of litter disposal and think your house remains free of the used-litter smell, you're fooling yourself!

HOWEVER, today (Dec 3, 2011) I went to tack on another refill cartridge to my latest Amazon order only to discover the price had sky-rocketed from $5.99 to $14.10. That's a 135% price increase!

Reading other reviews I see that some folks have stated that the Litter Locker II refill cartridges are the same as the Diaper Genie II refill cartridges just with different packaging. Looking online I see that my local Walmart stocks the Diaper Genie II refills and sells them for $6. That's only a penny more than the previous Amazon pricing. I'm more than willing to give those a try before I shell out $14.10 for the current Litter Locker II refills from Amazon.

Next trip to town I'll pick up a refill in the Walmart baby department and post my results. Would love to read others' experiences.

UPDATE: Dec 4, 2011 - I couldn't stand the suspense & went to Walmart this morning. I studied the $6 Diaper Genie II refill cartridge extensively. It looks exactly like the Litter Locker II refill. I bought one. Got it home and closely inspected both refills. They have the same US Patent # for goodness sakes! The only difference between the two is the Litter Locker II refill is in a grey cartridge while the Diaper Genie II is in an aqua cartridge. The innards, the roll of plastic is the EXACT SAME.

I'd prefer to purchase the "Roll o' Plastic" from Amazon like I have in the past but until they can compare to the price I find at Walmart I won't be buying my refills via Amazon again.

Comparison shopping both Walmart & Target online I see that not only does Walmart have the single cartridge Diaper Genie II refills for $6 but they also offer a 3-pack of cartridges for $16 (with free in-store pick up of your order; the 3-pack was not available in my local store, so you'd have to pre-order the 3-pack but that works out to $5.33 per cartridge for an even better price). Target (which is not convenient enough for me to go check in person) says they have the Diaper Genie II refill cartridges available in-store as a 2-pack for $12.99 (That's 6.50/cartridge.) Any of these will be a better price than Amazon's current $14.10 for one cartridge.

Please Amazon, realign your pricing so you can remain my go-to supplier of this superb product!

I have two Himalayan kittycats and have REALLY small apartment and I try to scoop their litter box twice a day. I was a little tired of smelling poop in my kitchen trash can so I gave this a try. For the price I figured it wasn't much to lose and I am very glad I did try it. It's a pretty simple design and the process is straightforward and convenient. Basically it's like a designated poop trash can like people have for baby diapers and the the little drawer thing on the front is on a tension spring and keeps the bag sealed until you get ready to empty the holding bag.
When you get started, you have to tie off the bottom of the poop sack then tie off the top when you replace the old bag for the new, or draw a new bag down I suppose would be more accurate. It's like you have a very long sock that you keep cutting and tying off. Anyway, I grabbed a bag of zip ties for a buck or two and plan to just use those to tie off the old and new section at the same time, then just cut between the two. I also like that I don't have to try to hold a plastic bag open and not spill litter all of the floor too. The circular bag-sock is always wide open so the scooping process goes much quicker plus I can stop hoarding plastic bags.
No more smelling poop while cooking dinner! I feel like the product is priced very well and Big Al's shipped it quickly and it was packaged very well, lots of padding.

This product works great but the bags that come with it are hard to use. I followed another review and used white 13 gallon trash bags. Pulled the plastic pincher out and lined it like a regular trash can. Then close the pincher and it works great.

Ok. So this is the 5th LitterLocker II that I've purchased. The first 2 were for my house, the last 3 were for family. For years we were scooping into bags and dealing with the smell and the mess - but now, after having the LitterLocker II, we'll never go back again!

Yes, there are refills, but in all honesty, they last a long time and are super convenient. We have 4 cats and scoop 2 - 4 times a day. We typically need to replace the cartridge once every 6 weeks.

I do think that they may be phasing out this product because the refills are becoming more expensive and harder to find. Luckily, the DiaperGenie II refills are a perfect match and are less expensive!

I bought the Litter Locker II about 6 weeks ago. My two cats fill it up in about a week. That is what I was expecting because the manufacturer claims one cat will fill it in about two weeks. I empty it Sunday nights. The garbage collectors take the bag of poop away Monday mornings. The first cartridge lasted for 6 weeks before I had to replace it. I plan to use less of the cartridge plastic bag weekly and get at least 7 weeks of use before it needs to be replaced. The Amazon price for the cartridges can't be beat.

I was surprised to learn that the Litter Locker II is really a modified Diaper Genie II. The same company makes both. It's a brilliant alternate use of a product. The Diaper Genie II cartridges will work in the Litter Locker II and visa versa. From now on, I'll buy which ever cartridge is less expensive.

And, there is no smell!
