3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Cheaper alternative available 23 de febrero de 2012

The design is an overkill. In addition fourteen bucks is a lot to pay for this. Here is a cheaper and effective alternative. Just buy Velcro tape from the dollar store. The soft portion is good enough to offer protection. Just a cheaper alternative to those who like to protect the Roomba and your furniture. In addition you get the Velcro in black, so the guard don't stand out as well.

This pad is a must for the Roomba. If you run it without the pad on you'll get to the point that you cringe at times when it's bumping the furniture. The pad softens the blow even though the blow isn't extremely hard it will make marks over time and it will set you on edge. I'm much happier now that I've added it. As you can see from the picture the pad goes around the bottom of the bumper. That means that the top of the bumper stills hits slanted furniture and chair legs. I'm thinking about getting another one, splitting it long ways, and securing it around the top of the bumper too. By the way, there are some reviewers saying that you can purchase Velcro and that it works the same. I'm not convinced. This bumper has a double layer; it's made with a thick type padding material that's very soft on the surface. It does get dusty but is easily brushed clean.

Update 2-13-14: As I mentioned before, because the pad is placed on the bottom of the Roomba's bumper, the top of the bumper still hit directly on slanted chair legs or any furniture that stood an inch+ off of the floor. So I purchase a second pad. I cut it in half long ways, because a full width pad won't fit on the thin strip of plastic above the sensor window, and attached it to the top of the Roomba's plastic bumper. My cringe factor has decreased even more now. With padding at the bottom and top of the Roomba's bumper, the "bang" sound occurs much less often and I feel more secure knowing that my slant legged chairs are protected. I do wonder if half of a pad at the bottom and half at the top of the bumper would be as effective as the one and one half pads that I'm using. It would save on purchasing two.

I cracked up at the notion of this being a "world famous" item. Seriously? And for the price, I hated the fact that I had to order this after reading the previous reviews. Alas, I grew tired of my roomba dive bombing the legs of my furniture and I was noticing that some of the stain was beginning to rub off over time.

Does this probably cost them five cents to manufacture? Yes. Is it a ridiculously huge markup and could any of us build it ourselves? Yup. Would I rather throw less than $20 at the problem and call it done? For sure.

The packaging stated that it was a dual bumper, even though only one was in the package. I thought I had missed out on something until I checked my original order and I had only purchased the single - which worked out well since my Roomba 595 doesn't have an area to attach a second bumper. I have no idea what the deal was with the wrong packaging.

All in all, this does the job. My roomba 595 does not seem to have any issues docking or working properly after the install (as noted in other reviews). You do have to be careful to not install it over any piece of the sensor area. Why they made it in white and not black, I have absolutely no idea. -1 star for lack of color options and -1 star for being a few cents worth of soft flocking with a sticky back that I didn't have the time to make myself!

It works as described. But you have to be careful where you place so as not to block any sensors. We have a Roomba 760, I placed the bumper right on the existing bumper of the robot. Works well and did not cause a problem for the sensors. Nor did it affect the docking and charging. I would have preferred a dark color so it did not look so out of place. Ya, I could hav e bought some felt or rubber strip, but this was easier since it was made for the purpose intended. For the price Roombas cost you would think they would have a better bumper system.

I am extremely happy to have found this bumper which attaches quickly and easily, stays put and does what it's supposed to. My only complaint is with the Roomba manufacturer - why, why, why don't they tell you that their cute little robot may very likely marr furniture, and deface baseboards? Although I love my bot, it has left black streaks all over my white baseboards which don't clean off. So now I have to repaint them. If I'd only known, I would have bought this product when I got the Roomba.
