Ahh, how controversial this production was.
In fact, during production, Scientologists made certain to threaten as many people as they could to prevent its' production.
As a result, they created a Streisand effect, whereby it got publicity and more people came to see it.
From the opening disclaimer to the final verses, the act guides you through the torrid history of Scientology and unapologetically describes its' founder and how he came up with every aspect of the "Religion".
To address "Religious persecution" I believe the following need only be said:
"The point of satire is to address issues that would otherwise be left unsaid but need be addressed. Through the history of man, no religion is without criticism. As such, freedom of speech should not be curbed because it offends anyone."
This CD was awesome and I highly recommend that if you wish to hear a good story that has its' roots in the history of Scientology but do not wish to read it, this is the CD for you.

Running time on this "Christmas" album is 35:11. Funny!

This set is an artsy East Coast theatrical production merging lyrics about Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard with original Christmas-flavored music choral music by children. The concept and execution of this is a dead-on bullseye of a just BIZARRE reality orientation delivered Bud Abbott deadpan straight. Listening to this is musically akin to being trapped on public transportation far, far away from the next stop with an other-worldly emissary enlightening you with his end-of-the-world theories in the next seat. Think Exidor from MORK & MINDY....

The children's choral performances on this are less SING ALONG WITH MITCH & THE GANG "Children's Marching Song" than they are like Janeen Jacobs Brady's Brite Records kiddie Utah albums such as Songs for a Mormon Child, Young Mormons Sing, and I'M A MORMON, but with equal helpings of hip stylings from Vince Guaraldi's incidental jazz stylings on those PEANUTS TV specials. If the Evolution Control Committee All Rights Reserved made a Christmas album, it'd be very much like this.
