Reseña del editor
This fourth edition of Roderic Camp's highly respected Mexican Political Biographies is an updated comprehensive biographical directory of leading state and national politicians in Mexico, covering the years 1935-2009. The original edition, published in 1976, was the first and only comprehensive biographical work on contemporary political figures in any language and served as the prototype for the Mexican government's brief foray into its own official biographical directory. The Mexican Supreme Court has cited every biography of justices in the third edition as the basis of its biographies in the late 1980s. With updates of the existing biographies and appendices, plus almost 1,000 additional biographies, this fourth edition now features close to 3,000 entries and serves as a unique resource list of the chronological occupants of all leading national political posts. The need for such information has become even more pronounced since Mexico's political transformation from a semi-authoritarian to a democratic model. This latest edition allows readers access to information about Mexican politicians into the new century, and like its earlier versions, will be a valuable tool for government officials, journalists, historians, social scientists, the business community, and students. Finally, it includes a detailed bibliographic essay that identifies and explains the significance of biographical sources and has been enhanced by numerous up-to-date Internet sources. An added convenience is an accompanying CD that allows readers to search the biographies and appendices, enhancing the longevity, usefulness, and uniqueness of this edition.

However it is difficult to manage the attached CD DATA (You can't even search by GENDER/AGE) and most of the elites are not the current Congress women/men. It maybe useful for historical studies.
I expected more because of the price, it is still very expensive.
The fourth edition of Mexican Political Biographies (3rd ed., CH, Feb'96, 33-3061; 1st ed., CH, Dec'91, 29-1841) continues this comprehensive collection of accurate information on the individuals who have shaped the Mexican political landscape for the past 70 years. Camp (Claremont McKenna College), a prolific and respected scholar of Mexican political history, also wrote the well-regarded Politics in Mexico (CH, Nov'93, 31-1744). This new fourth edition updates or changes more than half the entries in the third edition. The author includes more detailed family information and goes deeper into the political structure of Mexican politics, including more material on ambassadorial posts, lower-level cabinet posts, and union leaders. New to this latest edition is a CD that includes a Microsoft Access database, along with two PDF files containing the entire text of the biographies and appendixes. The PDF files allow full-text searching of the complete text of the approximately 3,000 biographies. The electronic database gives researchers an incredible opportunity to manipulate the book's raw data into new, personalized material. This enhancement makes this work all the more valuable to researchers at all levels. Summing Up: Highly recommended. All academic libraries with a strong Mexican studies focus; upper-level undergraduates through researchers/faculty. -- J. H. Pollitz, University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire
