You could be forgiven for a moment that this is one of a many "prescriptive" books on marriage written by 20th or 21th century gurus. Not so the author of this book, who is a Canadian writer active in Anglican lay ministry.
Of course, you can be a very happily married couple and never read this book. Yet I do not think I am far from the truth in saying there are few books in the world that will stretch out your wonder and joy in marriage like this book.
Of course, I am biased for two reasons, indeed: a) I am married. b) I translated this amazing book into Spanish. The first reason qualifies me to praise the book for its honesty, reality and hope. The second reason, for believing it deserves a place in our shelves and a space in our hearts (this "our" refers to Spanish mother-tongue speakers). In my opinion, our marriages will be strengthened as a result of reading it. For many, I am sure, this voyage of two into one through the highways and byways of life, knowing that the high calling of marriage intertwines with the nuts and bolts of daily living.
So, will you read it?
