Descripción del producto

"This is an excellent book. It is very lucidly written. Clark covers a suitable set of topics, and treats each topic very thoroughly...He is very up-to-date in his coverage of the material."
- John G. Burr, University of Texas at Dallas

"This textbook is very comprehensive, covering nearly all aspects of molecular biology and genetics. The textbook excels in defining key terms in a clear and understable way...The sprinkling of little side stories...keeps the reader interested, and kept me glued throughout the text."
- B. Franklin Pugh, Penn State University

"The author did a very good job covering this vast subject and offered many insightful perspectives."
- John F. Cannon, University of Missouri

Descripción del producto

Molecular Biology: Academic Cell Update Edition Study Guide aims to help students get a better grasp of important concepts in Molecular Biology: Academic Cell Update. Each of the chapters in this study guide contains a summary that lets students see the bigger picture, that is, how all the techniques fit together in that chapter. A list of terms is presented in a concise format rather than spread throughout the textbook chapter to help the student remember these key terms in preparation for exams. Student can also assess their knowledge of these key terms using the Fill-in-the-Blank questions. The conceptual questions can be used for either class discussion or for independent student study. The answer key has a full explanation for the problem rather than a simple list of the answers.
This study guide attempts to help the students to think about molecular biology concepts in a scientific manner, focusing each chapter on a recent research article demonstrating the concepts in the chapter. Early on in the study guide, only one or two figures of a research article are chosen so students can focus their learning on the concepts in the chapter and not on information that will be presented later in the book. In the middle of this study guide, the entire article is explained in a figure by figure basis. Then, as the student becomes more and more familiar with molecular biology techniques and the scientific method, the relevant research section contains fewer details.

If you need a book that is thorough with every subject that you need to know for Molecular Neuroscience or Molecular Cell biology this book is highly recommended for you. I am a Neuroscience and Biochemistry major and I bought this book for my Molecular Neuroscience class but ended up using it for Genetics, Molecular Cell Biology, Biochem Lab and regular Biology Lab to review some material. Now it doesn't have all the materials you need for those classes but it does go into detail with many of the subjects that are basics and very important to know for any Bio related field/major. If you like to study alone on just some subjects you are confused about, this book is great for self study. Enjoy!

After downloading it to my kindle I realized that this is NOT the actual textbook, it's a study guide for the textbook. I didn't see the small print on the upper right hand corner of the image and I didn't think that the rest of the product page made it clear by any means either. I think it needs to be more clear; I probably wouldn't have purchased the study guide, now I have no choice :(

Iam very happy to have purchased this book. I just love it. It is so educative and full of information. The good thing about the book is the ease in the understanding. it is very easy to understand without too much time spent in the reading. This is because every topic is illustrated with colored pictures and drawings. At the end of each page is a glossary of definitions of the important words to remind the reader of the important topics.
This book is very good for teaching students of biology. It is a must buy or must read book for students and faculty members as well as for research students who want to understand the basic structure of life.
The book has improved tremendously my understanding of some laboratory methods I have been performing practically on the bench. I want to buy two more copies for presentation to my students and faculty members of my Department.
I love the book. Each time Iam reaading it , I dont feel like putting it down for any other thing.

I don't know whether I am just not sure how to work with the kindle edition, but it does not seem to be the same book as the paperback.
This is basically just concepts and questions. It seems like I wasted my money - can somebody please help me?

I ordered this textbook from Collegetextbooksdirect and received it within 2 days using Amazon prime. The book had been marked as "new" but when I had received the book it had been re-shrink wrapped and the code on the inside cover for the online study guide had been scratched off and used. This should have been provided in the description, but it was not. Now if I want to purchase another online code it'll cost me a good $30+ instead of the $40 I thought I had paid for a brand new book. Good book, just no online code.
