Fast forward sixty years -- I screwed up the cabling on my stereo. I didn't even know it until I bought these on a whim; taking the wires out to cap them, I noticed they just slipped right out. What I thought was tight wasn't.
Putting these on, all of a sudden my stereo came alive. I'd missed it because I made a bad connection; these helped me past that. So consider these insurance.
The other thing my dad would have done is tie the cables in a knot as a restraint against having them pulled out. I'm happy to say that there is no way you are going to pull the cable out of these; the connection is tight and it is solid.
So consider these as extra insurance.
There's no magic to it; they helped me.
Other than that, I'm not sure I notice a significant sound increase, but it certainly didn't get any worse. And as others have pointed out, these should prevent shorts. (Plus, they're a whole lot easier to just plug right in to the middle of the speaker input knobs in than if you're trying to reach behind your receiver to screw in those little knobs around and around and around the piece of exposed wire you've stuck in....)
I like the Monster product better than some other competitors because they look nice, they feel like a quality product, and I like the design of the rubber grips and knurled cap. I have these on Monster XP cable and the install was easy and they look great on my NHT Super Zero 2.0's
Just buy them. You will be happy. Installing them is fun too!
I posted two pictures for you to view.
I purchased 2 sets for a total of 8 plugs and it worked out flawlessly. Setup was a breeze.
1.) Unscrew the top part of the banana plug
2.) run the stripped part of the speaker wire through the hole (I stripped about 1/3" and it works beautifully)
3.) spread the bare wires and fold over the bottom portion of the banana plug
4.) make sure the bare wires are spread evenly in a 360 angle
5.) screw the top and connect to speakers and the amp
The sound is beautiful. The speakers are amazing. These banana plugs do justice in holding the speaker wire in place and connected firmly to the back of the speakers and the amp. If you are doing a simple setup like me, you would need 2 sets, install, sit back and drift yourself in to pure musical bliss!
