+I currently use these refills in a G2 body. I haven't written with many felt tipped pens, I usually use Sakura Pigma Micron's for drawing/moderate sketching, but they aren't comfortable for journaling. These refills are convenient because they fit in the G2 line, so comfort isn't an issue.
+They lay down a nice solid black line, it is moderately bold, but I enjoy that in my hand-writing.
+The ink used in these pens is adequate, and does not bleed or feather on most paper. Of the mediums I write on, I do not have any trouble with printer/copy paper, some heavier notebook papers, post-it-notes, moleskine notebooks or this "Markings by C.R. Gibson" journal my mom bought me a few years back. I do however have trouble writing in a mead composition notebook, and some lighter loose leaf notebook papers; no viable feathering, but bleeds through, even onto the next page.
+I really enjoy the feel of the pen as it glides across the paper, just enough resistance to know I'm writing on paper, but no more than that.
+It also has a spring loaded tip, which is convenient for those who write with pressure. I mainly write with fountain pens so I write with a light touch (this was my main reason for buying this pen, because with ballpoints, I have to change my grip to compensate for the increased pressure) but because of the spring loaded tip, I don't have any fears of someone destroying the tip when letting them use it.
-When writing quickly, it starts to fade (but still as dark or slightly darker than a ball point). This is a good and bad thing; Bad because I don't like the faded color, but good because it helps me pace myself when I've been writing for a while, and start to write too quickly, and as a result, sloppy.
-Finally, the ink begins to fade way too quickly. My first refill was used moderate to heavy over a two week period, about 1 1/2 weeks into that period the pen began to fade at the angle I was writing at, I had to write at a much higher angle, and slightly slower; but at heavy use, I still got another week of use out of it. I accept that felt pens use ink more quickly than ballpoint pens, but I don't like that it requires me to write at a high angle just to use up the refill.
+Nice dark line
+Great for fountain pen users
+Writing is smooth
+Writes on more mediums than ball point
+Spring loaded, don't have to worry as much about tip
+Writes on more papers than most other felt tip pens.
+Fits in G2 body with slight modification.
-Can't write quickly for long periods
-runs out of ink quickly compared to ballpoints
(about the same as other felt tip)
-begins to fade at shallow angles (fountain pen angles) before the ink is actually out.
-not that great for drawing, compared to Sakura (which are made for drawing)
-The price is a little steep considering how long they last (maybe it's possible to refill them?)
-They don't advertise any security features. I would think that since most people use Mont Blanc as signing pens, they would advertise security features, but I couldn't find anything on their website, or from resellers.
I would highly recommend these cartridges to anyone who writes with fountain pens, but can't write with fountain pens at work//school. I would not recommend these to someone for drawing or who is used to writing with ballpoints in print (unless you are practicing handwriting/light touch). I don't think this is a 5 star pen refill, but I do believe it deserves more than 4, It is appropriately rated at 4.5/5 stars.
I barely wrote a whole sentence and this pen began to dry out. I don't know what it is or why it would dry out so quickly but this horrible. I'm beginning to think these are knockoffs as I read others having the same issue.
