5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas By far the best accessory I have purchased for my espresso machine 21 de agosto de 2016

By far the best accessory I have purchased for my espresso machine! I recently purchased the Rancilio Silvia and although I've been making espresso for years, I was still a novice when it came to all the ins and outs of espresso making. When I got the Silvia however, I needed to figure it out quick. I was getting weak coffee with no Crema! So disappointing! I read online that a stainless steel tamper was a must - so I started searching. This Motta is the best! It has a sleek design, it looks sharp! I prefer Italian made products because of their durability and fine design. This fit the bill! No more watery coffee! If seems like a steep price but it is well worth the investment. It is beautifully crafted and it works. My coffee packs with barely a press. I highly recommend this tamper.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas a quality tool 16 de enero de 2015

This is a great tool! The handle is a beautiful wood (much prettier than the product picture here would have you believe) and the metal base fits well in standard portafilters. The weight, grip, and balance are great - It's machined well with extremely slight concentric ridges on the bottom (you can see them but I don't think they affect the coffee at all). Also, mine had a few superficial scuffs on the base but I'm not going to dock points because it doesn't affect this quality tool at all.

New to the espresso machine game. Bought this based on reviews. We're opening a cafe and we needed something to get started. We had inherited two other tampers with some equipment.. and honestly, I can't even use them. They're more steal and boxy in shape... this one is beyond comfortable and just feels great. I'm a newbie, so my opinion might be lame... but for what it's worth, this is a fantastic item and quite glad this is what we use. Very well constructed and feels great with repeated uses.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas High quality tamper 5 de febrero de 2017

Incredibly well crafted, base has a nice heft to it and the handle is fairly light -- and this is a good thing as this makes the handle simply guide the base instead of controlling it, meaning it is easier to get an even tamp even if you are a little bit off axis.

Fits my Profitec 500 portafilter almost perfectly. Think that my basket (standard double) requires 58.5mm so there is a little bit of grinds left on the inside walls, but I just run my finger along the edge to get them off and it works fine.

Overall great tamper, feels high quality and that is the best part. It is a joy to use

What more can I ask for, it's a tamper. Why anyone would spend double on a Reg Barber tamper is questionable. The stainless steel base is machined very PRECISELY and the wood handle is gorgeous! I ordered the 58mm version for my Gaggia New Baby espresso machine and it is perfect. I also love the subtle "Motta" laser engraving on the steel base - a nice touch because it is there but not in-your-face obtrusive. It is also made in Italy (one of the reason why I was willing to spend a little more for a Motta (mainly for bragging rights)) and it came in a really nice box.
