5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas The Poor Are IMPORTANT and Matter 15 de febrero de 2010

It must be one of those important lessons that the writers of the Bible really wanted us to learn - the distribution of resources is not equal across the board. There are over 2,100 references to the poor/the impoverished/poverty in the Bible.

"On The Move" is a short book, which should take about an hour to read. After that, it takes a lifetime to digest and integrate into your lifestyle. It is rock singer Bono's address to the 2006 National Prayer Breakfast, in Washington D.C. The speech lists twice, the first time, in short segments with pictures, and the second, as complete text, with no pictures.

I'm leading a weekly discussion at my church, on Poverty, Justice, and the Bible. "On The Move" was quoted in one of my resources, and I bought a handful to share with the group. Since then, they have been made available to the entire congregation. All we ask, is that, after they are finished, they pass on the book to someone else.

The photos are of people in Africa, but they could be anywhere. They are photos that call us to reflect, to get angry, and to get involved.

"On The Move" is one of those books that reaches us at a variety of levels. We HAVE the resources to level the playing field, and make poverty history. If I could, I would buy enough copies to always have one to give to a family member, friend, or co-worker. All the royalties of the sale of the book, are being donated to the ONE Campaign, to make poverty history. See [...] for more information.

I highly recommend the book.

For a small book, this one packs the hugest punch of all! I knew that getting something Bono was involved with would really move me but I had no idea how much. This book should be read by every human being on the planet. 2nd behind the Bible.

His love for Africa and his passion for this country is obvious from the first page to the last. Just reading his words have inspired me to get more involved than I already am.

My prayer is that this book will have the same impact on all who read it and that we will all share it with the rest of the world.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas great read...choose hardback over e-version 15 de noviembre de 2013

I have both hardback and kindle version of this book. Bono have a fabulous speech that challenges each reader to do more to make a difference in the world. God is on the move and we are called to be on the move as well. The photos are great. The problem with the photos in the kindle version is that it's difficult to read the text overlayed into the photos. Fortunately the full text is printed again without the photos. I prefer the paper version. Yet the kindle version met the immediate need in the moment. The book/is definitely worth the read!

I had seen the book before but for whatever reason had not purchased it. It contains the entire speech that Bono gave at The National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC in '06. The photos are the ones he & Ali took during their mission trip to Ethiopia prior to the making of The Joshua Tree. For any die hard U2 fan, it is a must have in your collection.

Don't get me wrong--absolutely idolize Bono. But this one is basically a small picture book jammed with the stuff he already usually says. Unless a portion of the proceeds go to a worthy cause, you can likely skip this. Sorry.
