The good: it literally took less than a minute to affix the device to the hose. It was, indeed, relatively easy and required no tools.
The bad: even though I tried r-e-a-l-l-y hard and did my VERY BEST to shove the hose over the device's ribs as FAR as I could, the device still leaked. I even twisted the device and hose as I went, thinking that would help thread the hose onto the device. Once I fired it up, though, I had a significant leak. Given all the positive reviews, and given how mechanical I am and how careful I was to mate the hose to the device the absolute best I could, I'm not sure how I failed. But I apparently did.
The device is, as others have noted, bulky. But the ease of implementation and low cost make this a no-brainer --- assuming you're one of the lucky ones and your device doesn't leak once mated to your hose.
I have never made such an easy hose repair! I love this thing and will be getting another. When needed I will also buy the hose repair kit, too.
Here is how the process went... Walked out my door and around to the faucet (this took the longest), picked up the hose, pushed the repair part on and tightened down, hooked hose back up. Didn't even take two minutes, including the walk to the faucet. And the actual hose repair only took maybe 15-20 seconds. Seriously!
If you need to repair your female hose end, THIS is the kit to get. Look no further. You have found what you were looking for.
It is extremely easy to install. All you need to do is to cut the old (bad) connection off the hose. Unscrew the gray collar from this connector and slide the gray collar on to the hose WITH THE THREADS POINTING TOWARD THE END OF THE HOSE YOU ARE WORKING ON.. Then push the yellow connector on to the end of the hose as far as it will go. Then screw the gray collar (that you slide on to the hose earlier) on to the yellow connector as tightly as possible. The entire process took me about 20 seconds. It works like a charm. And make sure that there is a rubber "garden hose washer" inside the threaded area of the yellow connector.
