I have a substantial EMC library and have been incorporating the principles in designs over the last 25 years. I'm very impressed with Mr Ott's book. It is just the right mix of practical solutions.with enough theory to understand why... This is a difficult field to teach, and I think Henry Ott is a very skilled teacher. I don't know him but I wish I did!

I build EEG sensors, and I started reading this book, expecting something like The Art of Electronics, except more detailed and covering only noise techniques. Instead, I got much, much more. The diagrams made *much* more sense than Horowitz and Hill's AOE, and the explanations were clear and consise. I was able to read it cover to cover in a weekend without getting bored from too much detail, and it had many many real measurements of noise in systems that made the information much more quantitative.

For instance, instead of saying "in order to get the most noise reduction, you need to use a shielded cable only grounded on one end", he says "a shielded cable grounded on one end has 84dB of attenuation to magnetic noise and much more for electric, while if the shield is grounded at both ends the attenuation is more like 36dB".

Those numbers are critical if you're trying to balance signal quality with cost.

One of the best textbooks I've ever purchased.

I always thought of EMI/EMC as voodoo magic that was best learned through experience and design mistakes. This book does a lot of that for you and gives some excellent insight into design for EMI. Great text.

BOOK: NOISE REDUCTION TECNIQUES IN ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS
Depite this book has a lot of years, the basic principles have not changed and I find this book very instructive to learn things as types of noise, crosstalk, radiation, grounding and shielding techniques or cabling. Henry W. Ott and his book, are a reference in the world about noise control and EMC concepts.

Written in easy way to understand, with very little equations, I suggest that if you want to have a copy of one of the most famous books on this science, buy it

BOOK: ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY ENGINEERING
EMC topics are so complex that an expert is an expert because it acquires a high degree of specialization in a particular area of this science. This is the case with Mr. Ott, which I and many other people consider the world's number one expert in noise control in electronic circuits. He has a great ability as a communicator. I encounter fascinating his new book, it has given all the issues clearly. The book is well organized, easy to read and understand and you can jump from one chapter to another without losing any information. I highly recommend this book to all the people who want to learn more about this exciting science.

Very good book, with little equations and down to Earth comments about issues EMC. Problem is that the book is from 1988 and all the initial discussion about FCC regulations is a bit outdated. Nevertheless it is a very good reference and I am glad I have it. Btw, I bought mine through one of Amazon's resellers so I dont have the pretty cover. I am not done reading it all but I am almost 1/2 way in and the material is very good.
