So.... I don't know if you know this or not, but.... it IS POSSIBLE to REBUILD your bones. Your skeleton builds and tears down all the time (skeleton rebuilds every 7-9 years). The point for us adults is.... 1) you have to put MORE of what the bones need so that you overcome the "tearing down" activity of the bones (this is normal).
I started on a research project about carpal tunnel to fix a sore arm, and learned about magnesium and how we are mostly deficient. Next I learned that nearly ALL of US are MINERAL deficient, and minerals are the sparks of life.
Then....I was wondering why it was that people taking diatomaceous earth were reporting "bone rebuilding" (and pretty quickly, too). Now I have the answers, and the reference books that prove it.
Here's the answers: To rebuild bones: You need: calcium (not as much as you think!), magnesium (more than you are absorbing!), Vitamin D3, and Vitamin K2 (the MK7 is longer lasting than MK4 in studies of bone health), Boron (STOPS mineral loss, and also stops arthritis), silica (it's better than CALCIUM for bone health!) , and the rest of the trace mineral elements. (yep, at least nearly all of them).
Ok: About the minerals: I'm making statements based on what I've read in two books I highly recommend you read: "The Magnesium Miracle", by Carolyn Dean, and "The Calcium Lie 2" by Robert Thompson. This is where I learned most of what I'm passing on, and I am using all the supplements I will be talking about, including K2, which supports both BONES and HEART.
Nearly everyone needs more magnesium, but the Pill form is not absorbed well, and I myself was deficient even though I was taking a high quality magnesium supplement in my multivitamin. When I started using TOPICAL (oil) magnesium, I felt SO MUCH Better. So much so, in fact, I wrote a fact sheet for my friends. I did more reading and learned (from bodybuilders) that BORON helped build bone, and more reading (Rex Newnham on Boron) indicated that 6mg a day would HALT arthritis (you bet I jumped on that!).
Next, I read the Calcium Lie2, and learned about what bones really need. (There is a LOT of misinformation about CALCIUM out there, and Thompson has a lot to say about it). But here is a study I want to tell you about because it tells the whole "rebuilding bones" story in my opinion.
It's called the "China Diet Study" and it found that osteoporosis is very rare among vegetarians getting only 544 mg. of calcium daily, while osteoporosis is quite high among meat and dairy products consumers getting over twice as much calcium (1143 mg.). While the vegetarians didn't get as much calcium, they did get plenty of **plant-grown silica** that way more than made up the difference. Most of us easily get the 544 mg. of calcium. What we are less likely to get is the silica which is tougher to find in the right form and assimilate.
So.... I now we need macro minerals (magnesium, etc) in the right form, but we also need MICRO minerals in the right form. Silica is one, and Vitamin K (specifically K2) is what works for BONES and heart health.
It turns out that Diatomaceous Earth has a very high amount of silica (it is mostly silica) and offers sea-based (read: "perfectly balanced") minerals. People are eating it and feeling wonderful, AND, are REBUILDING their bones, AND getting off their meds. WHY? MINERALS that are depleted. They are getting all that silica and it's rebuilding their bones quickly--and their doctors are amazed (sign me up for bone building and minerals! ). Just do a search on "Human use Testimonies of DE, and sit back for the next hour and see what this simple shell flour can do.
This vitamin is a crucial part of bone and heart health. At 62, I want every advantage I can get, because I will never let a physician put me on some of the meds my friends are on. (thank goodness I'm healthy, and don't need anything).
If you want to stay healthy, start getting smart about ALL the MINERALS your body needs; and how they work with ALL the vitamins. Chances are very good that as you add more minerals in your body, you will notice improvements. (Hint: get SEA - Salt, and use your table salt to kill ants or scrub out your cast iron skillet or something--but don't use it on your food. Sea Salt has ALL the trace elements your body needs all the time).
This is one of the quiet ones that can help you. Make sure you get the MK7 version for the best for your health.
I want my body to have all the "building blocks" in the "bone bank" so that I can be as healthy as possible. If you are reading this far, I have a hunch you want the same thing too.
