Update 7/25/16: Well, so much for any of my other watches getting wrist time! I have since picked up an Aqua Terra Master Coaxial (blue dial) and these two watches are the only two I wear anymore. I usually alternate every other day but I've found that one manual and one automatic is the perfect balance. The only time these aren't on my wrist are if I'm traveling, camping, etc.

No complaints so far after about a week of wear. I enjoy the watch, and have wanted it for quite a while. I like it enough to pay the gray market price here on Amazon, but not enough to pay full price+tax from an AD. It sits at a good place in my watch collection. I like it enough to wear it a few times per week but not so much that my other favorites (KOA wood inlay from NaHoku for example) get ignored completely. I will update my review as time goes on if anything good or bad happens.

Keep in mind that a mechanical watch will not keep as accurate time as a quartz watch. I also have a Citizen echo drive that syncs every night with the atomic clock so it was a little bit of an adjustment seeing it run fast (seems to be about 5-8 seconds per 24 hour period, which is within specs). I knew all of this prior to purchasing though, so it did not have any effect on my review score.

I did, however, make sure it was fulfilled by Amazon to ease my worries of buying sight unseen. Since it fluctuates between Amazon and third party sellers, I would be cautious and do your research on the sellers as far as authenticity and ease of returns.

I am also fully aware of the service costs (up to around $800 for a full service every 5 years or so, seems to be the norm).

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Amazing watch with a storied history 9 de septiembre de 2015

I will write a quick review. I noticed only 9 of the current 46 reviews are from verified buyers so the rest seem to be "info", helpful or not. I bought this watch knowing it was new but the closest to the "Moon" Watch as possible. If you want a Speedmaster that most emulates the original moon watch, this is it. Similar red box, storied slightly updated 1861 movement and hesalite Crystal. My watch keeps excellent time. It may be off 3-5 seconds a week. All functions work perfect. Shipping was one day but required a signature do to the price of the item. I have no complaints and is a great addition to my watch collection.

Love this watch! However my biggest complaint is the Hesalite crystal scratches very easily. I mean you bump it wrong and you will see the scratch. Only wish it was more scratch resistant. Is keeping excellent time. This is something I will probably keep for many years and perhaps pass down to my son.

Part I

I liked all the reviews here, good and bad. It helped me decide that I wanted a classic that my son would have long after I'm gone. And he'd be able to get it fixed for decades to come if necessary. He just turned 2.

I sourced out some Polywatch at the same time as the Omega. And yes, the hesalite does scuff easy. But Polywatch buffs out the scuffs super easy using a cotton makeup remover pad.

My Moon watch keeps exceptional time. I forgot to wind it once on the first weekend but after that, each morning I make sure. After a month it's still on the same time as my Blackberry.

Thanks to everyone that took the time to write their review!

Part II

Ok, so it's been a year. I really love the watch ...but... it started losing 5-10 minutes a day about a month and a half ago. I've had the watch for one year and wear it every day. It was very accurate for the first 8 months but then it became necessary to adjust the time more often over the last few months.

I dropped it off at the local Omega retailer to send in on warranty repair yesterday. I did receive a warranty card, full box, manual etc. from the Amazon vendor I purchased it from - WatchMaxx. I would recommend them.

Omega does not appear to respond to email inquiries on their website. I sent the first email at the beginning of January 2011 and nothing. Sent another a few weeks later. Nothing.

I just purchased a Luminox Men's EVO Ultimate SEAL 8350, Model A.8362, as my backup watch. It's going to be several months before I receive my Omega back, I was informed.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Horological classiness! 9 de diciembre de 2008

The OMEGA SpeedMaster Professional "moonwatch" is a historical, significant piece of horology and NASA space/moon exploration that you can wear on your wrist! While Rolex has also spent time in space via their GMT model the SpeedMaster was the first watch on the moon and used to help time rocket burns. It is tough and accurate. Mine has been running +/- 5 seconds/day and while it's strange to wind my watch by hand after being used to "automatics", it has earned a place on my wrist for life. This model is a must have for any true watch collector OR space exploration, Apollo Mission, history buff.
