4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Good 4. Excellent Guitar Work 24 de septiembre de 2010

Formato: CD de audio Compra verificada
This is the best BLS disc I believe. I have most of them but this has it all. Here is a breakdown of the basics:

Guitar - A+... Incredible! Some extremely well done solos. The guitars explode out of the speakers. Excellent, driving rhythms about. 'Chupacabra' is like Zakk Wylde's ERUPTION! He shreds like crazy on this.

Production - A... In your face, guitars shredding above all and a good bass line bottom. The solo's are incredibly clear.

Songs - B+ (for BLS)... These tracks rock out 80% of the time. 'Darkest Days' is one ballad though. Pretty draggy at that. 'Time Waits for No One' is another that is a bit better. 'Shallow Grave'.. eehh. I know they put these tracks in for an attempt to give the disc more dimension, but they kind of don't fit.
Otherwise, the riffs and song structures work well and the solo's kill it!! Great soloing throughout. Most important, the songs don't drag or bore you. Standard in approach granted, but you don't get tired. They flow well.

Lyrics - B... Good for his style, avg. to borderline impressive for this type of thing. Strength, power and the South! Pretty good, or should I say good enough!

Originality - C... Heard all the riffs before. Its BLS. Not trying to reinvent anything, just execute it well. Song structures don't go too far out of their pattern. Though 'Southern Dissolution' has some tempo changes that work real well.

What makes the disc lose its 5 rating is the damn VOCALS! I like Zakk, most of the times it works, but sometimes they just grate on ya. He has his style and you can feel the emotion, but sometimes you just wish he had another vocalist to rely on for a track or 2. They do annoy me after a while. The over emphasis, the dragged out words and screeching falsetto highs are a little strong for the attempted ballads on here. 'Shallow Grave' would be great with a different vocalist. Its a beautiful song, just that nasally vocal kills it at the bridge and chorus.
And they are very loud in the mix to boot.
I really think BLS would go further with a second vocalist to take another approach to a select song here and there. I have always thought this and still do. But 80% of the time its fine. Zakk's voice is good with this stuff, but it wouldn't hurt. I doubt any BLS disc will ever get a 5 from me because of that.

Overall, a much better release than the last. Highly recommended.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Bererker's rejoice.Sonic mayhem from the Black Label bunker!!!! 16 de agosto de 2010

After being summarily dumped by Ozzy Osbourne for drinking too much and making Ozz sound like B.L.S., Zakk made a hasty self-imposed retreat to the Black Label bunker to regroup. The result is a brutal and sometimes beautiful return to Sonic Brew, Book Of Shadows, and Stronger Than Death. All SDMF's know blood cots, alcohol, and being released from "The Bosses" gig wasn't gonna stop him. Refreshed and inspired, Zakk puts together an excellent collection of brewtality and what few people realize, Zakk is a total musician at his core. One of the hardest working performers out there and one of metal's last true guitar heroes. Berzerker's rejoice, Order Of The Black indeed!!!!

01. Crazy Horse - Zakk wastes no time and the first track is excellent. Could have been from Stronger Than Death and a precursor to what the listener is in for.
Great start for a strong album. 9/10

02. Overlord - Great riff with the classic Zakk tone. Song sticks in your head after just a few listens. 8.5/10

03. Parade Of The Dead - Another go for the throat song continuing the punishing assault on the listener. Classic B.L.S. with drummer Will Hunt pounding the skins like a man possessed. Great tune with palm muted riffing and insane pinch harmonics only Zakk can deliver. 10/10

04. Darkest Days - after being pummeled for the first 3 tracks, Zakk shifts gears Book Of Shadows style with a piano fused ballad. It's a nice change a pace and illustrates he is first and foremost a musician, and not just a shredder. 8/10

05. Black Sunday - opens with a dizzying, blistering legato lead. The pedal is back to the floor and this tune reminds me of something from Sonic Brew. Another strong track with a tight rhythm section from bassist John DeServio and drummer Will Hunt. 8.5/10

06. Southern Dissolution - Classic Zakk with heavy riffage, pinch harmonics, and a Southern rock/Sabbath feel. Another solid rocking tune B.L.S. All killer no filler on this release. 8/10

07. Time Waits For No One - Another piano ballad and a good one, Book Of Shadows style. A nicely paced disc, needed after such adrenaline filled tunes in succession.
Excellent solo on a disc filled with them. 8/10

08. Godspeed Hell Bound - Will Hunt is excellent on this cd and starts another killer track with a sonic assault on his drum kit. Great tone again from Zakk, and this tune brings the cd Stronger Than Death to mind. Nice mid-tempo pace change mid song building nicely into Zakk's solo. 8.5/10

09. War Of Heaven - at the risk of sounding redundant, another punishing B.L.S. bezerker track. Classic SDMF tracks with everything you want and expect. 8.5/10

10. Shallow Grave - another strong piano ballad to slow the pace. You can see the pattern where B.L.S. kicks your a$$ then lets you recover only to have your ears bl&*d again. 8/10

11. Chupacabra - wicked acoustic solo in the T.A.Z. vein that doesn't dissappoint the listener. Insane chicken pickin and fretboard blistering licks in 51 seconds of glorious shred. 8.5/10

12. Riders Of The Damned - One of my personal faves and a great riff. Cool piano section mid-tune, into another Wylde solo. DeServio and Hunt are solid together and this track is no exception. 8.5/10

13. January - an acoustic ballad and a solid one. 8/10

14. Bridge Over Troubled Waters (Amazon bonus) - Originally done by Simon and Garfunkel, Zakk adds his personal touch to this song. A decent version of a classic that fans will either love or hate. Always liked this song but i would have preferred this disc go out heavy. Nonetheless, that is my only gripe with an otherwise return to form for Zakk. 8/10

Everything a B.L.S. fan could want is in here. Don't even think about not purchasing this release if you haven't already. A must have for guitar fans, or metal fans in general. 8.75-9/10. Just about 4.5 stars but 5 stars are in order.

Thank you for reading!!!!

The great thing about music for me is when you find a band and you really get into their music. You wait for every new album to come out. You buy it the day it comes out. And every album gets better and better as the band evolves. For me there is nothing worse than when that album comes out, you get it home and listen to it, and are disappointed. You think "what happened"? I was let down with "Shot to Hell". If you were disappointed with "Shot to Hell" and missing the "Mafia" days, then "Order of the Black" is for you. I have been blown away. This album is amazing. Zakk is back. Back in Black. The sound quality and the songs are great. The solos shred and it takes you back to prime Zakk Wylde. There are four mellower piano based songs. (Plus the bonus Track for Amazon) I think they are great, but you hardly notice them while you are trying to recover from the assault of the songs before them. This might possibly be Black Label's best album. I think Zakk really out done himself and I can't wait to see him play these new songs live. Plus right now the album is $3.99. How can you go wrong? If you love BLS get "Order of the Black." You will NOT be disappointed.

My first and only Black Label Society C.D. It is very heavy and fast, it also has a few slower songs, but the tempo never drags. I don't know what to compare it to. The guitars are what I expected, crunchy riffs and groves, the drums and bass all tear it up. The singer is understandable and has some range. A good heavy metal album, the slower tempo songs keep it from a 5 star rating. My yardstick which I measure all albums by is Accept's Blood of the Nations. This is short of that level in my opinion.

Order of the Black is a fine recording from Zakk Wylde. All of the songs are good - and it's pretty clear many were intended for the next Ozzy record. That's too bad for Ozzy, but he can't hold a tune anymore anyway.

My favorite songs happen to be the ballads. I don't think Zakk has written a finer piece of music than Shallow Grave. Though it borrows a beat from Coldplay's huge hit from a few years ago, its a fine piece of writing just the same.

All of the hard rock tunes are great too, though I wish Zakk had sung a few of them in his normal range instead of his Ozzy range. It also doesn't help that all of the vocals are double tracked -- which really makes them drill into the ear.

The one thing you won't hear about Zakk that is particularly worthy of praise is his excellent lyric writing. His hard rock lyrics in partcular are very well crafted and intelligent.
