5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas FINALLY ONE THAT WORKS!!! 29 de septiembre de 2015

The unit that we've had for almost 10 years started a slow, painful death a few months ago, so I have been looking to replace it. It was an Accutire model, and since I'd had such luck, I started there. Tried 3 models, returned all 3 because they were either wildly inaccurate or dropped the signal a lot. One couldn't even keep time - a full 2 minutes behind after only 24 hours. So, then I tried a couple other models from different manufacturers, all with problems - screens that can't be read unless you're right in front of it, communication with the remote dropping out and constantly needing a refresh, and more often than not, inaccurate temperature with no way to calibrate.

Every time I tried a new model, I increased the amount of money I was willing to pay, thinking a higher price would get me a better product. I tried 6 models - up to $75 - and nothing worked. So I ordered this one, on an open-box deal, no less - cheap money. And wouldn't you know - it works great. Easy to set up, hasn't dropped the signal, accurate, and easy to read. Love it!!

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Oregon Scientific is Great!! 8 de junio de 2014

We are long time users of Oregon Scientific weather monitors and very pleased with their performance, but after many, many years the batteries started failing after a few days. We decided that it was time to buy "new." There was NO question that we wanted Oregon Scientific once more.
We read several concerning reviews but proceeded nevertheless. Here's what we found:

1) The base station is far more attractive than the Amazon picture. It is sleek, modern, and attractive in silver and black.
2) The "atomic" clock synched with Fort Collins in about 20 hours sitting in the kitchen window (We live on the East Coast.).
3) The display is large, clear, and easy to read for inside and out temperature & humidity.

4) The remote sensor transmitter is not quite as strong as the old model. So, we had to mount the outside unit a little closer
to the house - No Problem.
5) The water seal gasket area appears to be not quite as good as the old model, so we mounted the remote sensor under
an eave precisely as shown in the directions.
In case that we have any issue with the remote transmitter, we bought a back-up. We are very confident that we can arrange
an outdoor fitting that will work if need be.

Summary - Oregon Scientific Weather Station is highly recommended.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Works Great! Not Always Easy to Read 25 de agosto de 2011

My husband and I purchased the Oregon Scientific BAR208HGA Advanced Weather Station with Atomic Time from Amazon after reading many reviews for many products that cost under $80.00. This product is well worth the cost via Amazon if you want a reliable measure of time, indoor and outdoor humidity and temperature. It was easy for my husband to set up, once he read the enclosed instructions, and the product has been working as advertised.

The temperature and humidity readings appear to be fairly accurate (within 1 degree F and 3%-5% humidity) in comparison to other measurements made in our neighborhood. At least it is close enough for our purposes. Many of the complaints that other reviewers had appear to be related to not following setup procedures carefully. Setting the time zone (Central, in our case) under the manual mode, and then changing the mode back to automatic (atomic) provided us with the correct atomic time (we have 2 other devices that use atomic time) within an hour, and kept the time accurate ever since.

The only common complaint that we have found to be justified so far is that the display is difficult to read under less than ideal (bright) lighting conditions. The background isn't "white" or bright enough to give the level of contrast pictured in some of the online photos. The 5-second, orange back-light helps in very low light conditions. Our base unit is in the bedroom so that we can see both outdoor and indoor conditions as we anticipate getting out of bed in the morning. I would prefer that the indoor measurements be larger than the time, but I can appreciate that someone using the alarm-clock function (we do not) may prefer it as is.

In summary, if you want a low-cost weather station that has both indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity read outs, this product does the job and looks good, and is not as expensive as some of its comparable competition.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Works with the remote sensor from an older product. 6 de diciembre de 2016

This Weather station was bought to replace an older model Oregon product that failed after 15 years. To my surprise this new unit soon picked up the signal sent from the old remote sensor unit in addition to the new one supplied.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Basic functions work. 8 de abril de 2017

It's a decent product but the overall display is unnecessarily confusing with the outside and inside information having a different layout and less than obvious which is which. Ice alert is stupid flashing light, overly bright and seems to simply be on if the temp falls below 32 (no precipitation logic). Caused me to move it out of the bedroom to the kitchen. The backlight (night viewing) function is cleverly placed in the middle other function buttons which is helpful (not) in the dark.
The basics are fine. Temp, humidity and atomic clock do work as they should. No interference with other remote stations.
