I ordered this as a replacement to the sensor that came with the original Oregon Scientific BAR808 Solar Weather station, and it works flawlessly. It transmits the outdoor temp and humidity readings from the my balcony to the weather station in my bedroom (about 50 feet away) just fine. This is actually better than the stock outdoor sensor, which my Weather Station would lose reception of once or twice a day.

I will follow up with the solar battery charger function of the unit in another few months or so. So far the rechargeable batteries are running at near full charge.

One note, I have no roof overhang to place this unit under per the instructions (for ideal use).I had to fabricate rain protection for the sensor as well as something to hang this unit from on the rails of my balcony, out of direct sunlight. You may want to consider having to do this prior to purchasing.

Purchased this one when I though our original remote sensor (THGR122N) that came with our weather station (BAR388HGA) had died. While it turns out the original sensor was still good (just needed a good air dry and a reset), I have since placed the THGN132ES solar powered unit in our old outdoor location and it has been working flawlessly as our outdoor sensor. Both temp and humidity levels are spot on with the base unit (and the old remote), and this little guy has been outside through numerous rains, and north texas ice storms and is still going strong! If you are expanding your weather station, or just replacing an older remote sensor, this is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED item!

We have since moved the older sensor into our garage, where it has continued to operate beautifully.

I can say that Oregon Scientific makes quality products at a great price.

I've been using this for a couple of weeks, to replace an original unit that came with my Stark weather station. The original unit was in use for approaching 10 years, but I think that it succumbed to a leaking (cheap) battery. The original could be left outside for years, until the batteries were flat (or leaking)!

This THGN132ES unit is smaller, and much lighter, and has a big solar panel, but it still contains a (rechargeable) battery (that's included).
I can only say that the reception seems to be excellent, much better than the original unit ever was!

BUT, this unit is NOT WATERPROOF; the battery compartment, containing also some switches, is just a simple clip on affair, no different to a remote control. This has nothing like the structural integrity of the original, which required 4 screws to open a rubber gasket sealed compartment.
For something that's supposed to be designed to be left outside 365 days a year, I think that this is a major oversight; I'm going to have to be very careful to keep this from getting splashed, ingressed or infested!!!

I will update this review, after 12 months (maybe every 12 months), or before, if there's something to report.

Works well once an appropriate location is found. Dark exterior walls absorb sun warmth greatly affects readings. Needs to be on n always shady location, about 5 feet off ground. Enclosed mine in a plasctic clear-cover electrical outlet box. Need to monitor on Channel 1 of OS 914 / 916 Base

Works as described. It has a little test button & LED inside to figure out if the light is sufficient for recharging the battery. This is very convenient to find the right spot for placing the sensor. And: hey guys, get a life, of course it does not have to be in direct sunlight.
