5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Adjustable Mounting set apart from rest. 6 de mayo de 2015

As a Marine NCO living in the barracks I have seen alot, I mean alot, of door frame pull up bars.
All pull up bars are flimsy and feel like they may break at any second. I have other versions break while in use. (It does hurt the knees. Most catch themselves and notice right before the break through.)

Pros:
-This bar is ADJUSTABLE! That may not seem like a big deal, but it is, see those little holes. This is the only mass sold (walmart/target/exchange/sears) pull up bar that allows the user to adjust the lengths to best fit their door frame.
-The horizontal bars pad mounts are a necessity allowing users to preform wide grip. Other products have the horizontal bar flush against the wall. The pads do help with trimming, but

Cons: Still made out of the same kind of materials as other pull up bars. This one is just more secure.

Have owned it for several years and has worked well in the three places I have moved too.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Perfect Multi-Gym vs Iron Gym 28 de septiembre de 2013
Por Llenroc - Publicado en Amazon.com

I spent hours reading reviews of chin-up bars, and was just about ready to buy the Iron Gym. Glad I did not. We discovered that a friend had an Iron Gym, and borrowed it to see if it fits our doors. The Iron Gym did not fit any of our doors. The reason is simple. The iron gym has no adjustments. Our walls are too thick for the Iron Gym.

The Perfect multi-gym can adjust vertically to accommodate moldings of different widths, and the depth can also be adjusted to fit walls of different thicknesses. We have thick walls and wide moldings. Our wall thickness including the molding thickness is 7.5" (yes, you need to add the thickness of the moldings), and our molding is 4" wide. By selecting the appropriate holes to slide the bolts through, you can adjust the "fit" for height of molding and depth of wall/molding.

Why four stars and not five? Two reasons. The first is that we only found a couple of doors that we want to use. If your doors are too wide, then the gym won't fit. If your molding is next to the wall(ends at a wall), then the gym may not fit well either. We ended up using a bathroom door with width of 28", which to us is about the perfect width. We tried it on doors with 32" openings. Yes, it would work, but our moldings are very wide with multiple waves and depressions, and the end pieces would press against the door molding at angles, feeling less secure. By the way, we feel that the Iron Gym would fit far fewer variety of doors.

Also, we wish the quality of material is higher. What do you expect for $30? Well, Perfect Gym is about what I expect for $30. However, I wish there were a higher end version, with higher quality metal tubing, higher quality grip, etc. I would have paid $50 for better materials. The cross piece that hang above the door frame is somewhat flexible plastic. I wish it was more robust. I could not find anything with higher quality built, so the Perfect Multi-Gym is as good as possible for an over the door situation.

Update: It has been 8 months, the product has held up fine. Mind you, the foam grips over the tubing would probably not have lasted, if we did not wrap them with tapes.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas An excellent multi-gym with a few mods 19 de agosto de 2013
Por Dave in NYS - Publicado en Amazon.com

*December 2013 update: After 5 months of using this pull-up bar, it's still going strong. Nothing is bent out of shape, everything is like I just bought it. The mods I mention in my original review are still going strong too.

Original Review from August 2013:

Great product with some excellent enhancements over the leading competitors. Has some flaws but can be easily fixed.

Pros:
1) Handles are fully foamed and is comfortable to grip. No gloves required.
2) The dense large foam pads on the sides really distribute the force against your door frame. No marks on the front side yet.
3) Fully adjustable to a variety of door sizes. There were some ignorant buyers giving this product a low review because they didn't read the description on the product before purchasing. This will fit the sizes indicated, but not any bigger than described.
4) As with all pull up bars, there are a variety of grip positions (chin-up, military pull up, wide pull up, neutral pull up, etc.). If you haven't done military pull ups before and aren't able to do so easily, I'd recommend starting with chin-ups and neutral pull ups to build your upper body strength.

Cons (but can be fixed with some simple mods):
1) The bolts didn't feel super sturdy and one of them wasn't threaded properly. Being 186 lbs, I confirm that the bolts did hold, but I really didn't feel safe on it. So I went to my local hardware store and bought new steel bolts and nuts. No way this thing is falling apart now. =)
2) Below long gray bar that sits on the top of the door frame there is the metal white frame of the pull up bar. This part of the frame will cause damage to the paint job of your door frame.

Here is what I did to fix that problem:
After I had the pull up bar appropriately adjusted for the door frame, I took note of exactly which exposed sections of the pull up bar came in contact with the frame. For my door, it was the inch directly below gray bar. So I used dense foam normally used for air conditioner insulation, and wrapped it around that section and secured it with postal tape. Now, there is no fear of further damage. As an added bonus, it make the pull up bar even more secure with the added friction.

Summary:
All pull up bars that attach to door frames will be inferior to the full sized machines. Either the material, or the design will be flawed. However, this one comes pretty close to perfect, and with the two simple mods I mentioned above, it will serve its purpose very well.

3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Mislabeled - Only fits up to 33" doors 27 de agosto de 2016
Por Bryson - Publicado en Amazon.com

This product is mislabeled in the product details. If you have a door 27-33" this will do the job. If your door is over 33" the pads will not be centered on the molding.

The product specs on Amazon says up to 35" but the box itself says 33". My door is 34" wide and it does not fit squarely on the molding. Had to return and wanted to share so no one else had the same problem.

Gave 3 stars because seems like it would work fine but mislabeling caused me to return.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas This door-way pull-up bar is not without flaws, but it's better than most, especially for the low price. 29 de julio de 2016

After three years, this is the second time I've bought this pull-up bar. I've tried others that were smaller and it's refreshing to use a pull-up bar that is big and sturdy. This one has wide, flat, dense pads that make contact with the door frame. Some door-way pull up bars have the main bar making contact with the door frame with a little extra padding. That doesn't work out well because the padding will eventually get crushed and the round bar will rub against the door frame as you do pull-ups. The diameter of the bar is optimal. I've used an even more heavy duty door-way pull-up bar that gets bolted overhead and that sucker had a bar that was so large in diameter, it just felt wrong.
Now for some shortcomings. The pad that makes contact with the doorframe will very gradually shift out of place. It's held on by some good adhesive, but that adhesive just isn't strong enough to stand the test of time. By the time my pad had shifted half way off the pull-up bar, I pulled it off and glued it back on with Gorilla glue. That fixed it. The black padding around the bars will split and tear with use. It's inevitable.
For this second time around, I wrapped the black padding with athletic tape to prevent it from tearing. In retrospect, I maybe should have went with a less abrasive tape like tennis racket grip tape or baseball bat grip tape.
This door-way pull-up bar is not without flaws, but it's better than most, especially for the low price.
