The case is massive and quite modular allowing you to pull panels to mount fans, radiators, etc with ease.
The included PWM hub works great and the LED strip along the edge of the case looks rad. Case looks like some futuristic 80's bladerunner type thing.
Only drawback was that the included reservoir mounting bracket wasn't drilled for the EK reservoir. Quite popular so a bit strange they'd not have the holes provisioned for that. There IS a top hole that works but for the lower res bracket, you need to measure and drill an extra hole. Not a huge deal but I wasn't expecting to have to do that.
If anything, I think that thicker side panels would have helped drop the noise a bit but there is enough room behind both the side panels that you can add sound deadening material if you want but I don't think it made much difference.
I had a hard time deciding between this case and a Caselabs SM8 but ended up getting this one because a lot of the cable and wire management was pre-done where as with the Caselabs case, I'd have had to come up with my own solution that probably would not have been as good as what Phanteks have done.
The only thing I wish Phanteks would have done differently was include a 3rd LED fan in the case at the rear exhaust instead of the non LED version. It's another one of those things I didn't anticipate and is required if you want everything to be all nice and matching.
If you go to the overclockers forum and search my username FastRedPonyCar, you'll be able to find my build thread from start to finish in the intel sub forum.
- Plenty of space for everything. I bought this for a build with E-ATX and 4 GPUs and so far it's working good.
Most of the other full ATX options that I looked at don't have as much space under the 4th GPU as this one.
- Aesthetics. I wanted a white case and this was one of the only two options (the other from fractal design).
- Comes with dust cover for all fan intakes. I switched from a Corsair Air 540 which is a dust magnet (but granted much cheaper).
- Like another reviewer mentioned, my back panel screw threads are drilled slightly off alignment. This makes opening/closing side panel an unpleasant experience. First time for me to see this in >$100 cases and this one costs >$200. Also the rubber screw pads are cheap.
- Other miscellaneous engineering flaws. e.g., my bottom in-take filter tray cannot be installed securely for some reason, and the front fan in-take panel has a small gap when closed.
Design 10/10: This is a brilliantly designed case. The dual chambers, wire management, and overall layout are some of the best I've ever seen. It's roughly the same dimensions as my HAF-X and uses the space far better.
Materials Quality 7/10: this is a "you get what you pay for" scenario and the steel side panels are disappointing. Some of the plastic feels cheap.
Tooling/Maching 3/10: Most of the screw holes were terribly machined, so make sure you grab a 6-32 tap so you can clean them out. There is a lot of panel gap, but you won't notice unless you are 6 inches away. This is where they cut corners.
Assembly 7/10: Many panels were loose and needed tightening, luckily nothing shook lose during shipping.
Paint 7/10: The interior white coat is gorgeous, but the exterior black steel had noticable blemishes. Nothing outrageous but be aware.
Features 11/10: I don't have space to list them all, but you'd need to spend a lot more to match these features.
Value 11/10: I've been pretty hard on their quality oversights, but for $250 this thing matches many $400-700 cases... Insane value.
Final thoughts: For high end watercooling this is impossible to beat for the price. Be prepared to deal with a bunch of minor quality and assembly issues. Nothing deal breaking but this requires some effort.
