Descripción del producto

Pixel TD-382 flash battery power pack features a two-group symmetrical charging design which provides steadier charging voltage and faster recycling time. The TD-382 flash battery pack has ability to use half power (4xAA) circuit and full power circuit (8xAA). Stand-by power consumption is much less than other similar products. The TD-382 flashgun power pack has a built-in thermal protection switch by which the battery power pack will be protected and disconnected in the case of overheating. The battery pack will resume to work again when the temperature conditions return back to normal. Pixel TD-382 external battery pack provides additional power to external flashes. It significantly increases the number of photos that can be taken in one "series". What's more, it allows you to charge the flash capacitor faster, which facilitates journalism and sport photography. It is powered by 4 or 8 standard or AA batteries. Note that a flash has to be powered as well and the battery pack provides only additional power. It is recommended that you use the same type of batteries for both the flash and the battery pack. A red diode indicating that capacitors are operating, lights up when the device is in a state of charge. CAUTION: do not take more than 15 photos during one series. Otherwise, you may overheat or damage your flash. After a long series of flashes produced, you should cool down your lamp. Please make sure you have batteries installed in your flashgun. Compatible flashgun: Nikon SB-900, SB-910

I'm giving this product 5 stars base on my initial impression. One of the better Chinese-company made item. The catch is if this charger will last at least 2 years in order for me to say that it is a good all around product. Also this a review of the working charger. The first one was sent used and broken. I won't take away some stars since I was able to send it back to Amazon without much cost other than a little time and driving to the UPS store.

- it works as described
- charges flash in about 1 sec at full power vs. 3 seconds with just the in-flash batteries
- gives about 26 pops of full flash before the SB-900 heats up and shuts down vs. 20 pops with the in-flash batteries
- works great with eneloop batteries
- simple to get started: Insert the batteries into the charger, then insert the plug into the flash. Start shooting.
- 1/4 the price of the Nikon product. Nikon way overcharges their charger.

- it makes a swooshing sound every time it charges. I'm guessing that is normal. What does that indicate when there are no moving parts in the charger?

- the belt like insert of the case is too tight/flushed. It does not readily allow a strap to be inserted through so that you can tie it to a light stand.
- plastic is cheap, smells of cheap Chinese plastic. It's a matter of time before the oil starts to leach out of the plastic case and cord. Then it will start cracking.
- as always, English illiterate instructions
- one of their warning in the instructions is to stop everything if there is smoke or melting plastic. Uh-oh...
- You buy this charger understanding that there is no warranty with it. They have small piece of paper written in Chinese, which supposedly is the warranty. Good luck with that.

Going back to the first broken one:

The first one came used and broken. Luckily the item was "fulfilled" by Amazon, so I just simply sent it back and gambled on another. Don't know why Amazon would waste time and money sending broken items. I was able to send it back and got another one without much hassle. This is the major reason why I've been shopping with Amazon for many years---their near hassle-free return policy.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great value and function 1 de abril de 2014

This is my second Pixel Pro Battery Pack. Both units function perfectly. I also have a genuine Nikon SD-9 Battery Pack. The Pixel Pro units seem just as effective at almost 1/4 the price (through Amazon). The overall build quality of the Nikon unit is a little better and the battery tray release is easier to use. However function as qualified by recycle time appears essentially the same as the Nikon. Recycle time from a full power (manual power setting) flash is about 1 second with both the Pixel and Nikon units (8 AA batteries loaded), and about 3 seconds using the SB-900 internal batteries only. I also have two of the 6 AA cell SD-9A clones ("Shoot" brand) with side door battery loading. These type were almost 1/2 the price of the Pixel units when I bought them. However the battery doors appear weak (6 cell units) and care must be use in closing them plus they are hard to open with batteries loaded. This is a disadvantage over the tray used in the Nikon and Pixel designs, as well as using fewer batteries. The recycle time on the 6 cell clones does not appear improved noticeably over the flash's internal batteries only (about 3 seconds with or without the pack connected). Both the Nikon and Pixel units will function with either 4 or 8 AA batteries loaded. I have not had failures with any of these battery packs, but I am extremely careful with my equipment. Based upon build quality I would rate the Nikon and Pixel units as superior. All units are used with Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable AA batteries.

All of my usage is off camera with Pocketwizard FlexTT5's controlling wireless in a portable studio environment. I rarely use a flash on camera. The one criticism of this battery pack is lack of a strap to fasten to light stands. This is easily remedied with a length of Velcro strapping tape which is in my bag next to the gaffer tape. As others have stated this also could be use to form a belt loop for on camera use. But even the high dollar Nikon unit's flap arrangement sometimes needs the addition of a Velcro strap to attach to equipment.

Bottom line is the Pixel units works as well as the Nikon and much better than the other brand. The Pixel units are the best value in my opinion.

As I write this the photo posted by Amazon does not match the unit I purchased. The Pixel Pro unit does not have the extra PC connector on the cord. There is only the one 3 contact plug to be used with the aux power socket on the SB-900/910 flash.

Don't waste your money on the Nikon brand. These work perfectly.
I've been using 4 of them in a studio environment for 6 months now without a glitch.

Get a roll of this Velcro from Amazon:
Cut a 6
'-8" strip and slip it thru the back loop. Back loop is tight against the case and you won't be slipping this on and off your belt without the use of a lot of 4 letter words. But the loop will allow you to slip the Velcro thru either vertically or horizontally thru so that you can loop the Velcro around your belt or put it on a light stand in either vertical or horizontal orientation.

Update 11-29-2014
Amazon is now tagging this review with the 'Dragonpad' pack. My review is for a pack from Pixel Model TD-382 for the Nikon SB-900 flash. The Pixel has a case, two leds at the top and is still working good. I have 5 of them I use on location and in the studio.
I wanted to order another and went thru my Amazon orders to get another one. Amazon sent me to this product page saying it's the one I previously ordered--it IS NOT!
I wish Amazon would quit this tagging of reviews with similar products. Now they are sending you to 'similar' products.
The reviews on Amazon are becoming worthless as you don't know which EXACT product the reviewer is talking about.
Everyone-and I know I will-should start stating in their review what the EXACT product model, size and WHO it came from in their review.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Excellent for the price! Works in Remote mode!! 21 de julio de 2012

As much as I use Amazon and the reviews here I figured I may as well contribute to something, here goes.

First off I took a gamble hoping the cord plug would work for a SB-800 even though it is advertised for a SB-900. I did a little modification to the cord end to make it fit for extra prongs for the SB-900/910. Filed it down enough to work ok in the SB-800 female plug and what do ya know...It works!

I saw other reviews of similar products for cheaper versions of the Nikon SB-8a and they stated they would not work in remote mode. This is the exact reason I wanted something like this for faster recyle times on softbox/ubmrella for off camera flash.

I also used it for an event with my camera bracket and the knob an hole attachement works great for all the 3/8 holes for tripod/lightstand/camera gear. The cord may be a little short to fit the pack in your back pocket for an event but could be done. Hence why I affixed mine to my bracket bottom Manfrotto 233B Camera Mount Flash Bracket (Black)

All in all a great product for the price. I will be ordering more for the rest of my SB-800's.

5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas It works as advertised on my SB910 flash 19 de mayo de 2013

When I ordered this item, I was not sure it will work on my SB910 flash or not . So I order this one and other brand (I need two of this). The other brand does not work at all on my SB910 flash (Off Camera Mode), it only works on camera flash mode. This one works as it advertised on my SB910 flash. I put very old battery into my SB910 and measured it took about 11~12 seconds to recharge a full power flash. With this item attached, it take less than 2 seconds to recharge a full power flash. I returned the ohter brand and ordered the second one of this product. The second one also works on my SB910 flash.
By the way it only need one connection to work not as picture showed with tow connections. The other brand use two connections but does not work on Off Camera Mode. The purpose of my purchasing this product is for off camera flash mode.
Be careful about off camera mode, not all products will work on off camera flash mode. But this one does.
