I see now why these are so popular.

I finally gave in and bought one of these Preppies out of curiosity. To my pleasant surprise, it writes very nicely! It's one of these non-traditional rollerball-feed type pens - something like the Pilot Varsity, but this one is refillable. It doesn't feel nearly as flimsy as I expected, though the nib is made of relatively thin metal. With all the unremovable product codes and writing all over its body, it's no thing of beauty; but it's a useful, practical, reasonably smooth-writing pen with a nice fine line and blue-black iron-gall ink that behaves well on any kind of paper. The nib on mine will dry out overnight if lying flat, but leaving the pen nib-down in a cup prevents that problem, and in that case it writes instantly with no hard starts and no leaking even if left for days. I hear these pens are not very durable, but then they're not very expensive, either. So far, mine is doing fine. I'm thinking of getting a Platinum Plaisir for around $10 to have essentially the same pen with a more durable body. This nib wouldn't be worth paying much more than that for, though.

I like the pen just fine

I like the pen just fine, I was disappointed that it came with a silver nib, I was really hoping for the green one, but I am satisfied with the pen anyway
Super Smooth nib!

Nib is VERY smooth, pen is light. I like it, but can't say I love it. The nib creep since first use, I used the cartridge that came with. The fine point is definitely a Western fine, not a Japanese fine. The line is thicker than my Kaweco EF and a lot thicker than my Pilot Kakuno F. I also have the Preppy in EF. Can't like I like the EF more than the F, but nevertheless great pens!
Nice basic pen. Fine nib doesn't flow as expected.

I got the fine nub for this. First impression is that it's a pretty cheap plastic pen. The ink loads easily enough. My problem comes that the ink doesn't flow smoothly. I find that I have to give it a small shake to get some ink to the nib. I wonder if it's s result of the nib size. When I do get the ink flowing. I enjoy it. Wish it was a little heavier but then again it is plastic.
Awesome pen, but arrived with spilled ink

Like the pen! The fine nib makes all the difference and the ink color is pretty. My reason for 3 stars is based on the fact that the pen arrived with the cartridge "ball" ( a plug of some sort) off inside the pen and some of the ink spilled inside the clear compartment. I was able to clean up most of it, but some of the ink spilled into the area that can't be rinsed. Also, my fingers are now stained and I can't wash the stains off. I will be purple for a few days..
