3.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Good - but not a 100W per channel amp 18 de julio de 2010

This amp will do well for most applications, especially the water resistant (NOT fully submersible) ones. Unfortunately like many amp manufacturers Pyle has chosen to exaggerate the amp's wattage rating beyond all reason.

This amp (like many other low end auto and motorcycle amps) is built on the Toshiba TA8210AHQ amplifier chip. In this case the amp has two chips with each servicing two channels. According to Toshiba this chip is rated at 22 watts per channel at 18 volts. At your average car voltage levels (12-14 or so) it will deliver less. There is no voltage boosting stage which would be required to anything deliver more than about 40 Watts bridged into 4 ohms and the TA8210 isn't rated for bridging anyway.

Note: The technical details posted on this unit as of 7/18/10 are also apparently for some other device. This unit has no AA batteries or USB connection.

Some other technical details are inaccurate: The documentation does not mention the unit as bridgable and the chip documentation doesn't either. It IS 2 ohm stable according to the Pyle documentation (a correction). Some elements are barely technically correct: The distortion is only correct at very low power levels and if the unit is providing 22w it is doing it at 10%THD. Frequency response is 20hz - 20k not 10hz - 20k

Net recommendation: A good unit for marine, motorcycles and where you don't have space. Not as good as it's specs, but most low end amps are using the exact same chip and circuit design with different housings anyway.

I bought this originally thinking I'd be able to drive my 4 Polk DXi 5.25's. The listing indicates the AMP will produce 4x100 watts RMS at 4 ohms. I can tell you factually that value is WILDLY overstated. I suspected to power output to be closer to 40watts a channel. The system works simply as a converter for my MP3 player. I am using it in my motorcycle fairing, so the added volume was key to my purchasing this kit. It seems there are three or four different brands of this same unit. I ended up buying a alpine KTP-445 (I think that's what it was) in line amplifier that actually drives the speakers. When I had just the Pyle amp installed the system seemed to max out at about 2/3rds volume, no matter where I had any of the gain's or MP3 equalizer settings set. If I tried to push full volume, the sound would distort something awful (as expected at maximum power) without getting a whole lot louder. The sound was easily washed out at any speed over 35-40mph on my motorcycle. I was disappointed for sure.

The bright spot: Because the amplifier is so laughably underpowered (as compared to the claims) the signal output to the speakers is closer to that of a factory stereo unit, this meant that with no further modification I could install a in line amplifier (like the one I posted above) and have a clear signal to the speakers. It was only AFTER I installed the aftermarket amplifier in line that I appreciated the pyle unit for what it was. . . a means to convert MP3 signal to speaker leads with a volume control. That's all it's good for. The 100 watt x4 channels, well I'd be very curious to know how they figured those values.

If you use this kit to simply convert signal, without expectation of needing further amplification, this will most likely meet your needs. If you think this kit will provide you with everything you need to power speakers and hear them while moving, it might not work for you.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Bought a second for my harley. 26 de diciembre de 2011

Well I bought one a few months back for my yamaha v star and thought it did a great job at a cheap price so I thought I would try it on my harley while adding some 2 ohm upgraded speakers to my fairing. Well so far I am not at all disappointed, I believe if you ran this amp wide open it will destroy your speakers unless they are 200 watt rms. My speakers are 100 watt rms and I have to dial the amp back a bit. The amp will also get hot if you overdrive it, wide open gain and wide open volume, but it has never failed. For under 50 bucks there is no way you can beat this deal. It really does sound great and will drive four channels equally. It also comes with a 3.5mm stereo jack insert you can mount on your bike in your fairing, and the amp external volume control you can also mount on your fairing. Its not really meant to be a volume control, but a gain control that you should set and leave it be. control your volume on your radio. I just can't say enough good things about this amp for that price. I would buy it again and again. Have two now.
4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Nice little unit but missing some internal extras that are really essential. 16 de noviembre de 2014

I am using this unit in my garage to power 4 all weather speakers and it runs fine and does not get very hot after an hour of usage. I did dismantle another similar unit and was rather disappointed to discover that the inside electronics were pitifully assembled and manufactured more to the point. I was not expecting much so it has met or slightly exceeded my original expectations but I would recommend another brand of higher quality to anyone thinking about quality and over-all sound build expectations.

really works for me. i put this in my jeep with some cheap speakers. love the idea of not using a head unit. this amp is all you need (and an ipod). it has a seperate input and volume control. i mounted the amp inside the dash (theft proof), put the input in the console and the volume control high on the dash where it is easy to get to. works great for a low dollar anti-theft system.
