It is hard to mount because the magnet is almost as wide as the driver. You could cut a circle and mount it from the back side I suppose.
It is also rather directional as expected. (not a problem, just a characteristic) I chose this size rather than the larger bullet drivers because I knew that the large ones would be very directional.
The biggest problem with these units seems to be that the diaphragms run into trouble. They will develop little tears that cause resonances and squeakiness. I have had several of these drivers, and a few of them have lasted quite well. I carefully looked one of the dead diaphragms and discovered that a tiny speck of glue in the wrong place was the cause of the eventual fatiguing of the diaphragm.
You should be able to run this driver down to 2 khz if you use a 12 db/octave crossover. However, if you can use the midrange system up to 3 khz, then I would recommend crossing it over at 3 khz with 12 db/octave crossover to help protect the diaphragms because they seem to run into trouble a little too often.
I matched this driver to a 97 db midrange driver without using an l-pad. The way to do this is to cross the midrange driver out with a coil, then, you hang this driver across the coil. Any power that goes through it must also go through the midrange, so its power draw is limited. Then, power that has to go through both drivers is severely restricted, so it doesn't threaten to overpower the mid-range. Using this strategy could save you meaningful trouble and money. However, your midrange needs to be around 96 to 98 decibel efficiency to make this balance out. There is a B&C midrange which fits the bill nicely.
