Descripción del producto

Descripción del producto

The epic story of a holy relic, an innocent girl, a diabolical experiment that threatens to rip society asunder. “The Sudarium Trilogy” is a thriller for our time.

Three years have passed and the cult of the new savior has only increased by means of the Internet (where his existence was first revealed). Blogs devoted to sightings of him, as well as descriptions of the miracles that he has presumably performed, have flourished. Millions of people wait for him to emerge, raise high the standard and lead them into a golden age. But the young man is nowhere to be found.
Powerful people from across the globe fear his impact on the world should he choose to reveal himself. He must be found and bought off or forever silenced. A savior in spite of himself, he comes face to face with raw power, determined to preserve its privileges and eager to expose him as a fraud. Can he ever return to the life of normalcy he led as a child?
In THE SAVIOR, a thriller that raises profound spiritual questions, the fate of a man is linked inextricably to the survival of his soul. It combines the suspenseful elements of the high-tech adventure story with the equally riveting aspects of a spiritual quest. Underlying the trilogy and serving as its inspiration are the words of an elderly priest who, before dying, expresses his belief that “Every child born on earth has within him the power to save the world or destroy it.”
The SAVIOR is the account of one special man, coming dramatically to grips with that dual possibility in others and in himself.

I'm not a regular reader of mysteries, but I had read Foglia and Richards' first two books because one was set at a summer theater and in the other the Dakota and Central Park in Manhattan figured prominently--all things of interest to me. Within ten pages of the The Surrogate I was captivated by the characters and drawn into their authentic and meticulously detailed lives. I read each of the three books in one sitting, with only a break for dinner. I have been for many years intrigued by the idea of cloning and also have a more than a casual interest in religion, especially the politics of the Roman Catholic church. The books are so engaging because of the depth with which the characters have been written. It's like I knew these people. And that's why when the action and intrigue really took off I was so caught up in it because I really cared about the characters. The authors kept me on my toes setting up expectations that the plot was headed one way, but then suddenly went another way. The geographical settings of the books are richly drawn making me feel as though I really was in those places. I could feel the chill autumn air of Boston; I could hear the waves crashing down below the cliffs overlooking the ocean in Spain; I could hear, see, and smell Mexico. The authors expertly balance the everyday concerns of the characters with the dynamic "mystery" through line of the three books while at the same time engaging us in a dialogue about ethics, religion, and spirituality. Not an easy task! I was so sad when I finished the last book because I didn't want to say goodbye to the wonderful characters and ideas I had been living with for three days.

1.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas trilogy syndrome- living in hope for a decent part 3 29 de julio de 2012

My hopes for a decent ending were dashed. It plodded to the very end.

In book 3, we join Mano 3 years later. He's gone to Jerusalem to find out nothing. He hangs out with a girl who is a torso due to losing her limbs when she laid down on a train track and met a train the hard way. Claudia, the girl who thought Mano was evil, had his child. The pope's reps kidnap Mano, but the cult helps him escape by sneakin' him out.

Mano is disconnected through the entire book. There are also no real religious revelations. Boring, tedious, disconnected, no suspense, no action, no likeable characters is a good summation. And the ending...the author does not write about what actually happens to Mano, he just goes 3 months in the future...And you figure out what the end is, but not how it occurred. Thunk, thunk, thunk... the sound of my head hitting the table.

Conclusion: $19, 700 pages, three wasted days.

I returned this book and book 2 for a full refund. Actual cost is now $3.
