5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Another Great Product From Seidio! 9 de diciembre de 2012

I drop my phone... a lot, so I really needed one that would protect it from impact, but I really don't like having that bulky look. The phone is very thin and lightweight and I wanted to keep it that way. I owned a Seidio case for my last phone and loved the feel and protection it offered, so I decided to research what they had for the Samsung Galaxy S III. I spent a lot of time researching a number of cases for this phone before deciding to buy this one. Most of the other cases out there are either the jelly type that don't offer a reinforcing "spine" or the hard shell that doesn't offer a lot of bounce protection or the very bulky types like the Otterbox. Seidio's case is a nice compromise without adding unnecessary bulk.

Here's what I liked:
- It's a two part case, rubber on the inside and a hard shell on the outside. Having the rubber on the inside will help protect the phone in case it is dropped. The hard frame helps to dissipate the force of the impact so it's going to do a better job at protecting the phone from cracks, dents, and scratches.
- It's slim and lightweight. It's only 2.2 mm thick, so to give you an idea, the PureGear Slim shell adds 2.9mm, the SnapTail Back Cover adds 4.4mm, the Otterbox Defender adds nearly 8mm, and the Bodyglove adds 8.9mm. So this is one of the thinner drop protective cases you can get.
- This case has a great feel. The rubber is soft to the touch and even a bit slick, but the notched finger grips help keep the phone from falling out of your hands. The hard shell is also soft and has a suede type feel to it.
- The rubber completely covers the power and volume buttons, but is still very easy to push. A lot of the cases that cover the buttons interfere with their clickiness, but I actually think this case makes it easier to click because of the material.
- The rubber comes over the front of the phone to make a nice lip. Not too much and not too little protection. It can be laid face down without fear of scratching the screen.
- All 4 sides are protected from impact. No matter which way it falls, the phone will not come in contact with the ground.
- I love the blue color. It's a navy blue with a metallic sheen, beautiful.

What I don't like:
- The rubber picks up lint easier than most. It's not such a big deal though as it isn't sticky and is easy to wipe off.

If you're looking for a great protective case with a nice feel that adds minimal bulk, this is the case for you.

4.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Great Case 2 de octubre de 2012

I've used the Seidio Active case for the 4 phones I've purchased. I try other cases like the otter box every time but always come back to this one. It provides the best balance of protection, thinness, and interacting with the edge of the touch screen.

I tried the version of this with the kickstand, and while I like having a kickstand, it is very cheap and rattles extremely loudly. Everyone in my office knew when I was receiving a phone call. So I sent it back and when with this one.

The one major complaint about this is that other active cases I've purchased were rubberized and provided great grip, this one has a glossy finish and is a bit slippery sometimes. Not sure if that is just a reflection of color choices as normally I get the purple case.

As far as Amazon goes they shipped it extremely quickly and I received it next day even though I only selected the free two day shipping.

Overall I am very happy with this case and would highly recommend it to people that want to protect their phone but don't want a brick to carry around in their pocket.
5.0 de un máximo de 5 estrellas Quality Case 14 de octubre de 2012

This is the second Seidio Active case I've owned. The first kept my old Droid Incredible safe for 2 years, through multiple drops from 3+ feet. I mistakenly tried a couple other cases for the Galaxy S3 before I purchased this case. I guess I wanted to see what else was out there. I should've just ordered this case first, based on my experience with the Incredible case.

This case design is slightly different, as the hard plastic shell on the Incredible case covered the sides completely. The Galaxy S3 case exposes the soft rubber part on the sides more. I don't think this would effect the protection of the case since the corners are still covered with hard plastic, but it may effect the long term durability of the case. The bits of the hard plastic that wrap around the soft rubber feel flexible, to the point that I could envision one of them cracking or breaking off after a while. It's probably not going to happen, but it feels a bit more flimsy than the Incredible version that completely wrapped the sides in hard plastic.

I opted for the case w/o a kickstand. I don't have a use for it, and I prefer a slimmer profile. I can always prop it up on something if necessary.

One thing I was worried about was the bulk the case might add to the phone. The phone is already pretty large, and is basically saved by how thin it is. That is the main reason I tried other cases first. The case doesn't add much bulk to the phone at all. In fact, it is only slightly thicker than the TPU cases I tried. Yet, I feel like the phone is more protected in this case. The case also looks very nice. It looks and feels like a quality product.

The soft rubber is a bit slippery to the touch, more so than the hard plastic. Since this case exposes more of the soft rubber on the sides, it has a bit of an insecure feeling in the hand compared to the Incredible case. It does have grips formed in the soft portion, and it helps. My guess is that after a bit of time, the soft rubber will get a bit more tacky, and provide more grip. As/is, it's not too bad. On a related note, the soft rubber is a lint catcher, but that also seems like something that will calm down when the rubber gets a bit more tacky. (either that, or it will just slowly clean all the lint out of my pockets)

The case wraps the screen nicely, providing a 1/8" lip that lifts the screen when you place it face down on a table. It's more of a lip than the other cases I've used. It slightly interferes with pressing the back/menu buttons, but it's not bad at all.

The cut outs for the microphones/camera/speaker/flash/usb/headphone all match perfectly. The usb/headphone cutouts are a little bigger than other cases I've used, which is a bonus. The Spigen case I tried had smaller cut-outs for these. Consequently, I was unable to use one of my sets headphones, as well as two of my usb cables. Both cables, and the set of headphones worked great with this Seidio case.

Pressing the Volume/Power buttons is very easy through the soft rubber, almost like there's no case at all. You can hear and feel the buttons clicking. The TPU cases I've used were horrible in this regard. I always felt like I was going to break a button because of the amount of force needed to get a button push to register. There was never any tactile/audio feedback that I had actually pressed the button.

All in all, this is a great case. I haven't dropped the phone yet, which is the ultimate test, but I feel like it now has a chance at surviving if it does happen. I would recommend this case to anyone.

**** 6 Month Update *****

I've had the case protecting my phone for 6 months now. I also have a Spigen Curved Crystal screen protector installed. My phone has taken a number of minor drops without issue. One major drop caused damage to the corner of the phone. The hard plastic corner of the case was scraped up, while the area directly underneath also sustained a decent amount of scratching. The screen protector was also torn in this area. I didn't notice the damage to the phone for two days, as the damaged part was completely covered by the case. The only indication of damage was the slightly disfigured screen protector.

My guess is that the momentum and angle of the drop peeled back the hard shell and soft rubber protecting the corner, exposing the corner of the phone. (this "peeling" may have bled off the energy of the drop preventing greater damage) The drop most likely would've have shattered the screen or caused similar catastrophic damage had the phone not been in this case.

So while the phone did sustain superficial damage *underneath* an area protected by both the hard plastic and soft rubber, I will count the protection provided as successful. I would still definitely recommend this case.

There are probably more durable cases out there I could have bought, but this is pretty much exactly what I wanted in a case for my S3. Not too bulky, looks good, keeps the screen from touching the surface if laid flat, has survived a few drops thus far with minimal scuffing to the shell (not about to really test the durability though). I didn't think I needed the version of this case with the kickstand and I was right (I use a coaster to elevate the speaker a bit when I listen to pandora or whatever, and the sound is noticeably amplified). Your needs may be different but this works perfectly for me. 5 stars if it were cheaper, but then it probably wouldn't be as good.

i have been using this case for a while now. and i like it. i had a similar one i got from a slowboat from china, but after a short time, it started to break and fall apart. i guess that is what $5 gets you. my second case was an otterbox commuter. i had nothing but problems with that. this was my third try at a cellphone case, and so far its been good. the fit is nice and snug, and everything gets to where it needs to be without much hassle when installing it. i think it comes with a screen protector? but i do not use those anyways so i cannot comment on that. all the buttons work great, and the charging port is unobtrusive (like the cheap one from china i got that i had to cut the opening bigger)

if you are looking for a good case, and do not care about the bells and whistles like a kickstand, then this will be good for you.
